    S&W 649

I paid over $800 on GB for a 649-3 and the last one that went on GB before that was $950 - didn't have a box or papers and mine didn't either. There's what these list for and might out of pure luck find in a gun store, but if you want one, you will have to pay the market price on the day you...

    Rear sight length differences?

If someone is looking for the height for their particular model of S&W revolver, it's not that hard to find the chart with the correct sight blade height. However, I haven't really noticed a lot of good, definitive info on the length differences of the square end older style sights by model and...

    Your least favorite S&W revolver

My 642 - had to go back because the barrel was poorly rifled. Doesn't seem all that accurate even after it got a new barrel, unlike the Colt DS-II snubby I owned, that, when it wasn't breaking springs or going out of time, could make tight groupings, proving a snubnose can be accurate. S&W model B 30-06 made in Sweden

You don't have to take it out of service - just bed it (or have it done) to ensure the action is tight and not shifting around... no one should see it. The resin will strengthen the wood as well as help accuracy. Check behind the action tang at the stock wrist to see there isn't a hairline...

    S&W model B 30-06 made in Sweden

One thing I would note is those old Huskys have a tendency to split stocks at the back of the action if they get used regularly with larger calibers. It would be a good idea to consider bedding it and definitely make sure the action screws are tight.

    Opinions on cold blue touchup/repairs

You can find 91% isopropanol at drugstores. Any alcohol, even Everclear, that's above 90% should work pretty well. You almost never can find absolute alcohol outside of a lab.

What is wrong with people today?

People can ask for my help, but demanding will get you nowhere. It's usually indicative of the entitled mentality of a person who could do something themselves but won't.

So the vast majority did nothing or almost nothing and only a couple people in the end even tried - you mean that? I really don't see much disproven from my assertion, no matter how the article embellished things, the fundamental truth was almost no one helped.

    Best place to live?

Bluegrass is still nice, so long as you stay around 20 miles outside Cincy, Louisville or Lexington... Frankfort too.

Also, the forcing cone won't take a lot of being hit by misaligned rounds.

Other countries do have a different sense of privacy than some places, with the Nordic countries not wanting to be involved in other's business being a common approach.

Kitty Genovese ring a bell? - this has been going on for a while, in different forms. We're all pretty much on our own and even some first responder types will blow you off.

Frame isn't weak, but the forcing cone cut to clear the gas ring of a .357 is.

It represents a good compromise between a field gun and a carry gun - jack of all trades, master of none.
