I would be quite grateful if there is someone knowledgeable with the S&W Model B 30-06 manufactured by Husqvarna in Sweden. The rifle was left to me by my Grandfather and the more I try and research the rifle to more convoluted the information seems. Some info suggest less than 1000 were manufactured in this manner, however it seems to me that there are more than that out there. If it is in fact a rare I may have to shelf it for preservation. Any insight would be much appreciated.

One thing I would note is those old Huskys have a tendency to split stocks at the back of the action if they get used regularly with larger calibers. It would be a good idea to consider bedding it and definitely make sure the action screws are tight.

Thank you for the insight!

I had a 1950 Husqvarna model 640 chambered in 270 Winchester that wasn't that good looking but was a great shooter.
Had an incredibly strong action that, like the Springfield 03 rifles, was patterned on the Mauser.
Wasn't using it much so gave it to a friend in Colorado that would have gotten it when I croak anyway. This way he has more time to enjoy it.
Yours looks like a later model 1640 a with a higher grade stock. Nice. (y)

That .270 is a beautiful rifle as well!

The Husqvarna guns were imported by Herters, Sears, and S&W as well as a few others. It was an inexpensive rifle so they got the label of "cheap gun".
The action is a Mauser type. Mine actually has an FN action. Not good lookers, but good shooters. Comparable to a Remington 700 with a birch stock.
And you can't beat a 30-06, arguably the best rifle caliber.
