That helps alot, that is exactly what's happening. Never thought of checking with the grip off, stupid on my part.
Well I'm off to see If I can get another screw.
Thanks alot.
Jeff
I have a one piece j-frame grip that slides on the grip frame and is secured to the frame by a screw in the bottom of the grip that screws into a bracket that came with the grip. This doesen't seem to be the best way to secure a grip as it does have a bit of play. I see alot of grips made the...
Is there any? If so I'm not seeing it. I have a 60 3" but have been looking at 2" 640's and can't see much difference.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Jeff

I bought my 642 no IL from a guy on GB who had sold the last two he had. I checked today and now he has at least another one. His price has gone up though. They are around, and have been shipped from S&W this year.

Jeff
I don't have them on my 442 or either of my 642's and I can't say I recall ever seeing them.

I don't know about all of this. From what I've been reading on the forum here, there were 4000 642-1's that left the factory last summer, right?
The 642-1 (no il)that I just picked up was test fired on 1/14/09. I think S&W are pretty much doing whatever they want and keeping what they do to...
Within badguy shooting range there really wouldn't be any noticable difference. There is a formula out there that will tell you velocity difference for every inch of barrel. If I can find it I will post.
In the mean time here is a 3" 60.
I currently have both guns and would like to get a custom job done to one or both of them. I'm looking for examples and a good shop to do the work.
Thanks.
