    Shield .30 Super Carry

I'd love an I-frame in 30SC. Failing that, a J-frame in 30SC is a 20% increase in cylinder capacity, so for that niche application I think it's a good round. Similarly it might give you +1 or +2 in a tiny pocket auto, which would be interesting.

Earliest Smith & Wessons to practically use jacketed bullets

The 1917 was of course intended to fire jacketed .45ACP bullets. The rifling is very shallow and short of custom sized bullets, accuracy of these guns tends to be far better using jacketed projectiles than "normal" cast. Worth noting that the rifling is so shallow the jacketed bullets do wear...

    IDPA Revolver Recommedations

It's sad, but as has been pointed out, IDPA just isn't revolver-friendly and to even complete the course of fire you pretty much need an 8-shot revolver. I'd love to participate, but since my love for Smiths is specific to classic revolvers, buying an 8-shot gun I don't love just to be grossly...

    Question about .45ACP revolvers

Don't forget the model 1917 is the original .45ACP revolver and well worth having as a shooter and historical artifact.

    Been Reading Some Disturbing news

The US is palnning to get production to 50K 155 shells a month in short order, so there will be a pinch on inputs for a little while. In a few years when nations have refilled their magazines, there will likely be a huge glut. I'm still shooting up WWII surplus powder.

Three most important factors for 9m accuracy?

Another B/E user here. Sometimes I find a load that's more accurate than Bullseye, but it's a lot of work and better is almost never very much better. So, if you want just one powder to try, I'd say this is it.

Need help with Powder selection for .32's and .327

Not on your list, but in my 32SWL experience, the best accuracy I got was with Red Dot.

Held a Sig P210 the other day..2 stage trigger pull?

The 210 is thought of as a target gun in the US, but in it's native land it was just the standard-issue sidearm given to members of the military and police and so was built with a 2-stage trigger. The view was it's a bit safer and also easier to make a good trigger in a gun where the sear and...

    Cheap primers?

Nope, nothing on the box suggesting it was hazardous or unusual in any way. I went to the local Fedex location in-person and was told "Oh, that's Fedex *ground*, different company. Let me give you their number"

    Cheap primers?

I just had a bad experience with that seller. Primers were shipped in a really flimsy box, no ORMD label, and just some paper to cushion things. The box arrived torn, missing some contents, and leaking primers! Calling the company it turns out they wash their hands once it gets handed to...

Best .38 Special Standard Pressure 158 gr FMJ Range Ammo?

Older revolvers are pretty soft and so using lead bullets will wear things a lot less than FMJ and might even save you some money. Of course, I gather some ranges require jacketed bullets, if so then your hands are tied.

Recommendation for entry level Target Pistol in 22LR

I've bought/sold and borrowed many .22s looking for something I liked better than my M-41. The Hammerli Olympia gave me a lot faster followup shots and the Walther GSP was slightly more accurate, many were more reliable, but none gave me more joy on the "good days" than the 41.

    Organized Shooting Question

+1 on the model 14. I'd go with a vintage Smith over a new one, for the history if nothing else, but also the idea there was human craftsmanship rather than the whole thing being CNC produced. My eyes are such that running a diopter I can benefit from additional sight radius, but without one I...

    PTG: never again!!!!

Good correction to my sloppy language, of course you are right about the temper and I do know better. Also right about the staffing. Not just angry, but also continuity; one wrinkle I forgot to mention is the person who promised to get me the correct reamer without a price increase had left by...

    J Frame Carry-What am I missing?

I'd love to own and carry one of the little .380s with minimal recoil and so small you can loose it in the smallest garment, but despite having shot as many as ten different ones, I can't seem to do much better than minute-of-man at 25yds. A J-frame at that distance is a 3"-6" proposition for...
