Chamber reamer rent, solid or floating pilot?

Plan on renting a reamer to use to cut the chambers on a 31-1 to 32h&r mag. Any insight on the difference between pilots and which to choose?

    Light primer strikes 686-6

Primer seating depth is good. Installed an extended firing pin and tested over the weekend. An improvement for sure, but still getting light strikes, just not as often. Ordered a Wolff full power mainspring and an extended strain screw to try next.

    Front sight loose on 57

Thanks yall. I removed the pin, cleaned and degreased, and went back together with high temp loctite. Bent the pin a hair prior to reinstalling. So far it's solid.

    Light primer strikes 686-6

    Light primer strikes 686-6

I'll give factory a try, but doubt the reloads are the problem. I shot this same batch of my reloads through my 65 and 586 no dash with no light strikes. Shot 50 rounds today with the 686 and had 1 or 2 light strikes every other cylinder.

    Light primer strikes 686-6

Good evening! Picked up a new to me 686-6 plus. Took it to shoot this afternoon and was getting light primer strikes on my handloads. Using federal small pistol magnum primers. Took the grips off and checked the strain screw, which is tight. Anything else to look for? I can't say I'm...

    My first revolver

Nice first revolver! The L frames are great. The first revolver I ever shot was my Dad's Nickel 586. It's my favorite S&W I own. Be careful! It's easy to get hooked on these guns. My collection has grown to include quite a few now.
