    Thompson Center Contender

I had an original Contender in the late 80s. Started with the 223 and then got a 7-30 Waters barrel. Both calibers were boringly accurate off the bench. Sold it in the 90s and missed it from time to time. In 2015 I bought an Encore pistol in 243. It shot very well, so I got 7-30, 223 and 45-70...

    Dan Wesson Classic .45 ACP

Congrats on that nice DW! I had one lust like it back before I retired. I qualified with it for a couple years, but mostly carried it off duty. DW makes some very high quality 1911s. Hope you get many years of enjoyment from it.

    Hammer block

Yes there should be one in every Smith revolver. Even those with hidden hammers, like in the 442.

    Kimber K6…Priced To Go

That's a nice pickup on the K6. Sounds like a good price too. I've had a 2" for a few years. They have a nice smooth double action pull, and shoot pretty well with anything 357. Hope you enjoy it for a long time.

    Retirement Colt 1911

Thanks for reviving my old pre-retirement 1911 thread Richard, and the positive comments from everybody. I think it was the beautifully engraved S&W's you've shared over the years that planted the seed to have this done. I've been retired for 5 1/2 years (that went by quick) and have been...

    Your “COOLEST” gun?

My Coonan Compact 357 Magnum is pretty cool, I think.

What is your Favorite non-S&W Handgun

Tough choice but probably this Colt SAA. Not really a practical pistol but it takes me to a nostalgic, happy place when I handle it. :) It has a nice crisp and smooth SAA action. And, yes, I do shoot it occasionally.

Looking for LEOSA Qual Instructor in Upstate SC

Greetings everyone; I'm a retired LEO from AZ who recently moved to Upstate, SC. I've been trying to find a LEOSA certification instructor in my new home area, without success. If anyone can point me in the right direction or even better, someone who is qualified to put on a certification shoot...

    Mountain Guns

What about the 627 Pro series? 8 shot with a tapered barrel, and cut for moon clips. Not officially a MG, but... I've had mine for 10+ years, and it's been a really fine shooter. When I was working it was one of my duty weapons, especially when on Mounted Patrol. I had some pics, but can't find...

    U.S.A.F. 15-2 combat masterpiece

That's a great find! AF SP from 1983 to 1991 and the M-15 was the issue revolver until right before I left. The M9s didn't show up at my base until 1990, I think. All the ones I used were worn and nasty looking, but they worked just fine and were accurate. The actions were very smooth. A few of...

    38 Special CTG MOD 15-3

The Model 15 will work very well for it's intended purpose. The first revolver I ever shot was an Air Force issue Model 15. I carried one on and off for 8 years, with the Security Police, depending on the post assignment. All of the ones I shot for qual were very accurate. If the accuracy went...

    New LEO Service Revolver

The Model 627 Pro Series, with 8 round capacity. If I was put in charge of such a thing, that's what would be ordered.

    325PD price check

Around $800-900. I sold one as you describe about 2 years ago for $800, and it sold pretty fast. As you've experienced, there aren't that many available anymore.

    Smith & Wesson M&P 340 as Back-up Weapon

The 340 is a good gun for the backup role you describe. Nice and light and hammerless, so no snags. It'll hold up to your 38 loads just fine. Your hand will hold up better than shooting with full 357 mag ammo also. (At the risk of sounding less than manly, these Ti J Frames are brutal with...

Safest long term powder for 357

Another Unique and 2400 guy here, with about 30 years using them in the 357. With 6 Gr Unique and 13.5 Gr 2400 under a 158 Gr LSWC, you pretty much have everything covered that a 357 Magnum will do. The Unique load is at around 1000 FPS and the 2400 is at about 1200. They changed 2400 a few...
