Dang Amigo ... you were reading my mind. I've got both revolvers bookmarked at Bud's and the S&W website. I visit them most every day! I know ... sick.
Your advice is wonderful ... maybe because my self-directed study augmented with readings from this forum have helped me to reach the same conclusion. The S&W first on my list is the 686SSR. I've not been able to shoot one, but have rented and borrowed several other S&W revolvers and found...
First, I should have known that I could not look at S&W revolvers and think that I'd be mighty pleased to own one ... as a single revolver. My search started with a .44 Magnum, but soon other calibers and models kept me awake at night. While I own a S&W 1911 (Gunsite) and a M&P Shield, their...
Sounds like a sweet deal. I'm still in the struggle phase which .44 will work for me. I shot a 3" .44 today but with special ammo since the range doesn't allow .44 mag loads. But thank you for your offer and guidance.

I'd sure like to express my gratitude to all on this thread for your guidance and kindness. This helpful information is helping me sneak up on a decision. For what it's worth, I'm a slow thinker and even slower when making this kind of decision. Take care.
Although new to this forum, I've visited for years without registering and own a couple of S&W pistols but no revolver. I've been on a local hunt for a S&W 629 (-1 to -4) for a while, but without much success. I'd like this caliber for some of our off-trail hikes in a chest holster.

One thing for sure that I can tell non-Texans. And that is should anyone want to mess with our guns, it's going to be ugly. God, Family, & Guns. And don't Mess with Texas.
We live in the DFW area of Texas and growing more fond of S&W revolvers everyday. I've been visiting the S&W Forum for nearly 2 years but never registered or had much to say. Still don't have much to say, but decided to register just in case. Finally, pleased to be here.
