    S&W Model 940 9mm

Thanks everyone. I'll probably list it for sale when I get through with the Christmas business and have a little time since I really have no use for it. I do appreciate the feedback and information and hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a much much much better New Year.

    S&W Model 940 9mm

I picked up a like new model 940 the other day from a guy that I know. It has the original grips as well as a pair of Crimson Trace grips and a bunch of moon clips. It does not have the original box; he can't find it. He carried the 940 in an ankle holster when a deputy sheriff as a back up to...

Anyone actually use a Randall Knife

Thanks for your service Lobo! The only Vietnam knife story that I have is from a friend of mine who was MACV-SOG in Vietnam. His name was Roy Beneavidez who was a friend of my Dad's and a friend of mine. He lived in the same town here in Texas that I grew up in. I got a Randall #2 when I was...

Anyone actually use a Randall Knife

Thank you. I was at a gun show in Houston years ago at the old Astrohall and was looking at a Randall knife that some guy had for sale on his table. A fellow next to me asked me if I knew anything about Randall knives and I told him that I knew that I liked them. He said that while cleaning...

I'll Play First is my Dad's original #8 bird and trout knife from late 50's or very early 60's. The rest are some that I picked up. All of them but the new model 8 were made in 1970 and are stamped with that date except for the Raymond Thorpe, it's stamped 1961.

    S&W Model 10

Hi Guys, I might be able to buy a very clean Model 10-5 and would like to know the year of manufacture. I do not have my book with me. The serial number on the butt is C887750 and the revolver doesn't have diamond grips which to me it should. Sure appreciate the help.

I think that Linde is correct too. I doubt that the retired officer would have acquired a correct box for the revolver after the fact and I'm positive that my Dad wouldn't have tracked one down. In any case everyone has been very helpful to me and I do appreciate it. TH

    Chief Special Square Butt

With this revolver I just don't know. I don't think I saw it but once and for the life of me I don't remember the box. The numbers while both starting with 40 are too far apart to have been incorrectly written. Might have written off the wrong line but he would have been way off.

The serial number on the bottom of the box is 40107. On the end of the box opposite the label end are the numbers X691, whatever that stands for. Thanks Hondo and everyone for the information.

Thanks...I could have the square butt wrong, probably do. :) Is the box right if it is a round butt...disregarding the incorrect serial number on the box?
