Hi Guys,

I might be able to buy a very clean Model 10-5 and would like to know the year of manufacture. I do not have my book with me.

The serial number on the butt is C887750 and the revolver doesn't have diamond grips which to me it should.

Sure appreciate the help.

I believe it is 1966-67. Pre-1968 should have the diamond magnas.

Thanks jmace. I thought it should have the diamond grips as well and I appreciate the date range.

I agree with 1966-67 date for the s/n . . . and generally agree with the observation that pre-68 should have diamond magnas.

However, I have owned square-butt, K-frame examples that shipped as early as January 1967 with numbered to the gun non-diamond magnas.

Only way to know is check the number on the inside of right grip panel.

Just an FYI on the non-diamond magna's on the 1966 10-5. I have serial number C845482, a slightly earlier 1966 10-5, with its original, numbered non-diamond PC magna grips. Best guess is that the transition away from diamonds may have occurred pretty early on with these high production pieces, and you may want to check to see if your non-diamonds also number to your gun.

Great gun- enjoy!

Both of these 10's are from the 66-67 era and have numbers matching non diamond stocks. I guess like someone else said they were being phased out during that time period so some probably got them and others didn't. That's my guess anyway.
