    newest addition

A S&W 325 Thunder Ranch revolver. 6 shot 45 ACP from the S&W Performance Center it was going to be for my 401k wall. But the more I handle it, the more I think it will be our camp gun. have to have the wife shot it some to see if she shoots it well and likes it. probably put a light on the...

need help with old pinned 38 ID

This just got this delivered from a GunBroker purchase. it's a S&W .38. it was advertised as a 5 screw M&P, but it doesn't have the trigger guard screw. it's serial number is 12054, it has what looks like Bakelite grips with 12054 scratched into the right grip. it has a 3 1/2" barrel it was...

    a 30-1 for the collection

I had a customer come into my LGS with with a S&W 31-1 to put towards a trade for an AR-15. it's now hanging on my wall. He said he only put a couple of rounds thru it, and it doesn't look like it's been shot very much. came with 2 almost full boxes of ammo. S&W Model 31-1 SN H141316

    J-Frame vs. Shield

which is why I like revolvers (or pistols) with an exposed hammer. when holstering, my trigger finger is over the trigger guard protecting the trigger, AND my thumb is resting on the hammer. IF something starts to pull the trigger, I WILL feel the hammer start to move and know to stop...

new 38, 4th change to my collection

after a very close look under a bright light I can make out the pencil markings in the same location as yours. I'm going to have to look using a magnifier to make it out, and probably have my wife take a picture of it with her good camera, not my cell phone camera. thanks for the info

Where do some of you come across these sweet deals?

I cheat. I own a gun shop and have young pups come in with "grampas gun" wanting to trade it for the latest piece of combat Tupperware

new 38, 4th change to my collection

thanks all. I didn't realize that the S/N's were in pencil. that would explain why I can't see it, can't expect a pencil mark to last 90+ years. my S&W collection now sits at 9. all but my 460 is 40+ years old. I guess I should look into joining the Collectors Association

new 38, 4th change to my collection

S&W .38 4th change 5 screw S/N 380321 I'm thinking early 1920's the grips do not have a anything on the inside. light ring around the cylinder, bore is very bright with sharp rifling. looks to have been fired very little.

    Opinions on pocket carry

this is what's important to me. if I think I might need my gun, I can put my hand in my pocket and no one is the wiser, You can't put your hand on your holster without someone raising an eyebrow. if someone does see the "bulge" of my LCP, they'll think it's a wallet, if they're also the...

new to me 10-5, import marked by century

this is a 10-5 P&R, S/N dates it to 71-72. it is import marked by century. but I can't find any marks that identify it to who had it overseas. there is a pic attached that shows a mark on the yoke if someone knows what it is. TIA
