How many of your firearms that you bought used still have the receipts? Easy for me to keep the receipts but I'm sure at some point they will be lost. Then the question will come up on a forum similar to this forum.
On the other hand, this revolver kina reminds me of a car I owned in the early...
A few years ago I bought a 4" 686 no dash. The barrel was so canted that I could not adjust the sights enough to get near the x ring at 25 yds. I sent it back to Smith hoping they would fix it under warranty as it should not have left the factory in this condition. S&W said No-Go, it was too...
I shoot 9mm when we go to an indoor range and I know I'm going to lose the brass. Otherwise it's a variety of calibers and if you see my brass after I leave it's only because I somehow missed it during clean-up.
When people were prepping for Y2K my firearms related purchased consisted of: 1 bag of #6 shot, 5 lbs. of FFG black powder and one case of 22 LR ammo. I figured anything huntable in Ohio I can take with my 24 gauge flintlock trade gun or my 22 LR. Plus the 22 LR ammo would be useful trading...
Great find especially with the documentation. I see no reason to question the story. How unusual is a Colt SAA in 38 Special from that time period? That's not a caliber I think of when I think Colt SAA.
Hopkins and Allen manufactured the Merwin & Hulbert revolvers. So they were capable of outstanding machine work when the intended market warranted the effort.
I don't know what revolvers are available in France. If the Astra 357 revolvers are available I would strongly consider one of those over the Charter Arms if regular shooting is you goal. I had a Astra until my son talked me out of it and we still shoot it regularly. I'm not kicking dirt on...
I owned one years ago that I carried backpacking. The revolver was fine for what I used it for but should no way be considered similar to a N, K or L frame Smith. The Trackers have an alloy frame which for me made it harder to hold on target. If anything, think of it as a clunky J frame.
I understand and shared that thinking for a long time. Eventually I decided that I probably fire several hundred rimfire rounds for every center fire round that I shoot. Why not put money into the rifle that I'm actually using rather than the one sitting in the safe.
