Thank you for the info... maybe I just don't recall as many markings on other examples that I've owned. Regarding my date of manufacture, I went back and reread the forum ad from the seller... and this one was made in 1996.

I've owned several 66 snubs and don't recall ever seeing the markings that are present on this one?

Hogue makes solid grips for a Square Butt K/L frame... decent fit and finish and options for wood type. I'm an oddity in that I prefer rubber grips for "daily use" and range sessions, and only install wood stocks/grips for pictures, ha! Forum members here can and hopefully will show you some...

I've owned 2 different examples of the 640 Pro and loved them both. I'm intrigued by the black finish on the new model, but concerned that the finish won't hold up... Cerakote isn't the toughest finish, for sure. Wish S&W had done this in DLC, but.. Will wait till these have been on the...

I'll take 38 Special ANY day over the .380 I'll take a revolver ANY day over a micro 380 semi auto. But regarding the OP's thoughts.... whatever works for YOU as the best compromise between concealability and effectiveness. (Fastbolt said it best, in his above post)

I think it's more the sound of the gun being cocked and the dramatic pause (and cheesy one-liner) that make the "single action" effect so common in movies.

I thought the "immediate cessation of use of the model 60" was an order to replace them with semi-auto pistols, ha!! I love this forum for such in-depth discussion regarding so many different aspects of the S&W revolver, and this discussion definitely taught me something I hadn't known...

That longer barrel makes for a unique carry gun, compared to the "average" snub that many carry. If you feel like it, I'd love to see more pics, and see what your carry setup is.. Thanks!
