    Revolvers are for women.

On the legitimate side, I think most women just aren't into guns nearly as much as most men, and leaving out sex, less interest/effort on training does imply simpler is better (even more than normally). On the less legitimate side, yes, I think there is some bias out there for sure, just like...

    Bring back the NightGuards

Make another production run of the Night Guards. I promise to buy a 386 NG and think on a 315 NG and 327 NG. And if you want to improve sales, do two things: Cut the price $100-150, to bring it closer to what you offer the Governor for, which is actually $300+ less in list price, despite...

    Lobo Threepersons rig for 629

Nice choices - looks pretty but still businesslike.

    Need a little help - 1911 or NG 327

What he said :D I realize you're supposed to get all worked up over 1911s, but I've shot them and to me they're just another semi-auto, don't own one. The NightGuards are indeed harsher than a 686, and if it's for a nightstand/range gun, a 686 is the better choice. But if it's to be...

    4" 617 price shock

Nice gun, but the purchase price certainly seems excessive to me. But, I guess he wanted it and had the money.

Is the Night Guard Series No Longer Made?

You're right that they cost more than most revolvers, and maybe too much for the market to bear. I don't think they were unfairly priced though. The sights alone cost nearly $200, then there's the scandium alloy frame and the high tech black PVD coatings. I am sure they had to raise the cost...

Handgun for Whitetail... *** Update in post 65 ***

Since it sounds like you'll be buying it specifically for hunting deer, I think a 6-8 inch 629 is pretty ideal.

    my first lock gun

Great deal, and despite endless hand-wringing, the lock is a non-issue. Enjoy your new purchase. As Pef says, there is nothing like a .22 revolver. :-)

    Smith Governor

There are certainly other revolvers that shoot either .45ACP or .45LC, but I can't think of any factory S&W or Rugers off the top of my head that shoot both .45ACP AND .45LC from the factory without changing the cylinder, and most guns that shoot either one weigh 50% more than the Governor...

    Smith Governor

Well, that all-black finish and no-snag combat sights are right for a self-defense firearm, and the weight is a good compromise between an all steel gun and one of these airweights. Of course the body looks a little funny to accomodate that lonnnng cylinder, but there's no denying the...

Is the Night Guard Series No Longer Made?

I agree that S&W did an awful lot right from a practical perspective with the Night Guard series, obviously designed from the ground up as a practical carry revolver. I think a lot of revolver guys are die-hard traditionalists though. Some people still haven't forgiven S&W for introducing...

    My first S&W 686

Great deal on two fine revolvers. The 6-inch is the perfect size for the range, and the 4-inch is the perfect size for a nightstand gun.
