I inspected it with magnification after reading your post. I guess I got lucky, I can see no cracks. The revolver appears not to have been shot much, the rebound plate hardly has a mark.

These three followed me home from the auction Friday night. From top to bottom, K22, Pre 43 "Airweight", and a Model 32-1 "Terrier".

In my uneducated opinion, your revolver appears to have gotten some sort of chemical on it that "stripped" the bluing off. Doesn't appear to be worn off as the remaining finish on the cylinder is somewhat blotchy. Maybe a futile attempt buy "Joe Hobbyist" to refinish.
