Yes, it looks exactly like that!
What is the significance of the different front sight as opposed to the red ramp? I've seen other revolvers with it, but most are the red ramp style. Was it for target shooters?
I purchased a used 686 no dash with a 6" barrel. It has the black hook front sight (terminology?) not the usual red ramp. The gun is magnaported, the shape of the vents are the shape magnaport uses.
I am wondering if S&W made any early 686s with magnaporting, or whether it was a limited...
I've got one exactly like yours and took mine out for the first time last week. Only put a box through it but it fed fine. One failure to return to battery at about round 50 but thumb pressure at the rear of the slide locked it up fine. I should also point out I didn't field strip and clean...
If I had any talent at all I would have taken him up on his offer. He sent me a link to a pistol he refinished and it turned out fantastic. You're right, the man knows what he is doing. I trust him, it's me I don't trust! I'm just not handy. I don't go beyond field stripping.
What a shame, the Gunsite pistols are very nice. I've had one for a few years and it's been fantastic. I'm very happy I purchased mine. Surprised they'd be ending their relationship with Gunsite. First they end the Night Guard series and now this? Who's running the show over there anyway...
Sprefix, you are one of many who recommended these guys. So I called them up and they said they could polish the flats on the whole pistol for $130! When I said I may want to try just the slide first they said that would only be $52. Wow. And a wait of only 3-4 weeks (which they said would...
Well, I guess this was a pointless thread. I called S&W and they informed me they do not work on any other brand of guns but their own. So I will continue looking for a quality smith with a reasonable wait time. Perhaps impossible, but I'm gonna look!
I know it seems weird sending a Colt to S&W, but the wait time of 4 months has made me start looking around to other gunsmiths, so I figured why not check out one of the largest gun manufacturers in the US? I'm in New England as well so I'd save on shipping if I send them the whole pistol. I've...
I have a Colt Gunsite Pistol, 1911. It is stainless with a beadblast finish. I am looking at getting the flats polished to a Series 70 type of look. I have contacted Colt and they want $200 and it will take 4 months. Too long for me to be without my pistol. So I was curious about people's...
It's interesting I noticed marks like that on the cylinder of my new Talo 629 3" 44. I've owned many revolvers in the past and never saw marks like this. Until now.
So is this a flaw that needs warranty repair or is this just how they do it now?
Just picked this up today. I've had a 3" N Frame 44 on my long list of wants since the Mag Na Port model in the 80's as well as the Lew Horton's of the same period. Although I had sworn I wouldn't buy one with a lock, sometimes you got to do what you got to do.
First thing I did was order a...
