No "belt needed" shoulder holster

I am looking for a shoulder holster for my S&W 642. I would like for the gun to sit vertically in the holster and do not want any need for the holster to attach to a waist belt or loop. I want to be able to wear it under a light jacket while wearing sweat pants, so there won't be anything for the holster harness to attach to on my waist.

I imagine there would be a loop to go around my weak side shoulder with the holster hanging down vertically from it and a strap across my back to another loop that goes around my strong side shoulder.

Does such a holster exist?

A Kramer shirt would do it. It has built-in holsters that hold a 642 vertically.

All of my shoulder holsters are vertical and have a loop to fasten to my belt but I usually don't fasten them. One reason is I am lazy and don't do anyhing I don't have too. The other reason for not fasting to my belt is if my jacket is not fastened and I lean to the left the holster swings out also and stays covered. If it is fastened to my belt when the jacket opens up the holster stays close to my side and is easy to spot. But I want the belt loop so I can hold it close if I want too. Larry

Without a loop, vertical rigs don't work as well since they don't balance well and pulling up on the gun pulls up on the holster..for a 442 you are better of with the butt hanging down...alos, the 442/642 is so light, it doesn'tneed the support of the loop....JMO.

Not a great pic, but this is my Alessi bodyguard with a pull thru snap...about the best there is for the little snubs...

I can highly recommend the Ken Null SMZ and SKR...vertical, butt down carry and easy to draw with off hand while still being secure. I don't know why I keep selling these to finance other holsters I am not happy with! I need another one now! Of the two, I like the SKR most, but the SMZ is great if you have a variety of frame styles within the JFrame--ie...centennial, bodyguard, etc...

I have one of the Null rigs (SMZ). I agree, they are fine for low weight applications. But, they're not a "beltless" style. I've altered a few shirts to have a hemmed opening on the R/S seam above the belt line, sort of like an enlarged button hole. This is required, to allow the off side support strap loop to pass through the shirt and be installed around your belt?
Another method I use, though rather slow is this product....

S&W 642 Upside down holster

Years ago (about 35), I had a shoulder holster that held my smith pistol upside down under the arm pit. It was made of black cloth material and had a strechy material across the top of the frame that held the gun securely in place. Not sure whatever became of it, but I would sure love to have it back; it was not expensive and it work better than any I have seen since that time. All you had to do was pull it down and forward and it was out and ready for use.
Anyone having information about this type of holster, please put it on the forum.

Even though this thread is 5 years old I'll have to chime in and say Kangaroo Holster's "Air Marshal 3" is the most comfortable shoulder holster I've ever worn; and I'm not a fan of shoulder holsters.

They are extremely light, and breath. Their customer service is top shelf too.

Approximate 10 pound trigger pull on my j-frame, holster has a covered trigger guard, revolver has an internal hammer, I still have a brain that still functions enough to let me know to keep my finger off the trigger until it's time to shoot... yeah, I'd use an upside down shoulder holster in a heat beat.

I have used the 9R Bianchi for over 25 years and love it.
If you carry it has to point somewhere.
I never had issue with any revolver in the McQueen Bullet
type holsters. Not recommended for extreme physical activity w/o holding on to. Like jumping a wall or fence though. It may pop out then.
