In the latest Shotgun News there is an article on this new Armscor 1911 in .22TCM cal. This is a necked down and shortened 223 case that ends up the same length as a 9mm and pushes a 40 gr 22 at 2100 plus from a pistol length barrel. I am intrigued! It feeds from a 9mm magazine.
Seems like a natural for our favorite S&W autos, should require only a proper barrel and recoil spring.
Not sure what it might usefull for other than small critters but does sound like fun. Accuracy is reported good with minimal recoil. Anyone know a custom barrel maker who might be interested? Or maybe reline a 9mm down to 22 and rechamber.
I may pursue this as time allows, I have wasted time and money on other similar projects.

Yes that would be nice addition to some of the S&W's. BM1 (BadMan_1) a forum member here is trying to finish some barrels for the 10mm guns. However access to the CNC machines has been limited. I was fortunate to get an aftermarket Bar-Sto 9x25Dillon (10mm necked down to 9mm) barrel for my S&W1006 a few years ago, that is providing some interesting velocities like 2100 fps with an 90 grain bullet. Still hanging on for BM1 to finish my 357Sig barrels and a few others.

Like you the RIA 22 TCM caught my attention with a 2000fps+ 40 Gr bullet that is fast and accurate. I bought the RIA 22 TCM; took some time to find one, it comes with the 9mm barrel, 9mm slide spring and one 17 round mag. I have two 19 round mags on the way, double stack 9mm or TCM 22. The nice thing about RIA is that the whole package was $620. Not bad for a 1911 two barrel TCM/9mm conversion, plus a 4lbs trigger pull. Down side is it only comes with one mag.

I also ordered the reloading dies, bullets and brass, it should be in this week. That will give me about 600 rounds to play with and develop loads.

It would be cool as you suggested that someone build conversion barrels to retro on other guns however that may be a long way off. I don't know if Fred Craig and Martin Tuason are the sole owners, or just Mr. Craig. I'm not sure how that works in the ammo industry with patents dealing with the 22 TCM.

I'd like to purchase a 22 TCM conversion kit for an existing 9mm 1911. I don't think it's possible yet however.

this gun is built on a para-ord. type frame. not a std 1911. para mags will work.
