How come I never see 39a or 1894 rifles in the gun shops? 45-70's yes, what I want though is the 44. Or 444.
I settled for a Henry 22 blued with octagonal barrel and it is a fine rifle.

Here are a couple mine:

My Model 81DL. It was made about 1946 and has a very clubby stock, not as refined as later versions of that model. It originally came with peep sights which I still have, but I mounted a scope on it.

Thanks, scott1970! I'll be taking it out deer hunting next month.

Just yesterday, I picked up a Marlin Model 989M2 .22lr carbine. Very cool little carbine made to look like a WWII M1 carbine. The little .22 is mint, with its rear sight intact. Even still has the stickers on the stock and the hang tag. Ninety-nine bucks at the local LGS.

I'm a Winchester guy first and foremost, but the Marlins are great!

One heck of a deal on the 989M2, I sold my 989M2 and 99M1 last year, each for 2 1/2 times what you paid for yours. They are quick handling lightweight little rifles.

989M2 has a detachable box magazine whereas the 99M1 has a tube magazine.
Never got a photo of my 989M2 but here is the 99M1

Big Shrek, I like the pump action 22! I have been looking for one of those for years and never seen one.

I did get my hands on a couple of Marlin top break pistols from the 1880s, but alas, they were not for sale.

I have to dig out the 2 Marlins I own to post pictures. One is an original Model 39 that was my dads. It has the color case hardened frame and 4 digit serial number from about 1928. The other is a Golden 39A and was my first rifle. I bought it in 1987.

I will have to see if I can dig them out to post here.
