What moron came up with this idea? There is a new cell phone case shaped like a handgun, it’s called a gun grip case. “Someone is going to get hurt because of it, be the owner because someone thinks it’s the real thing or someone else ignoring a person with a REAL gun because they assume it’s that phone case.”

I'm afraid some fool with his new cellphone case is going to draw on some poor cop minding his own business and things are going to get ugly real fast.
Poor cop is going to have to spend a lot of time with the "shooting team," his civil attorney, ya a civil suit will be filed, and more importantly he/she will have to live with the knowledge that they killed some fool playing with a toy.

This and anyone who uses one is my candidate for the Darwin award winner of the year..

IIRC a Dutch drug bust about 15 years ago revealed crates of the darned things. Rumour control said they came from the former Yugoslavia.

Back in the flip phone days, there was one. Or at least video of one. Home made, 22, single shot. Still it would have been a nasty surprise.

Then there was the bomb built into a cell phone that the Shin Bet used to kill a terrorist some years back.

Since the usual community activist types and the very gun unfriendly NYPD are against, obviously I am all for it. More guns equals less crime and all that, so in theory even the appearance of more guns would be a good thing.

Ol Gator makes a point! I guess I am in favor of this after all, as long as it is someone else carrying it - but not anyone I care about.

This thing is well beyond the dumb idea category and firmly into suicidal.
