What optics to use on the M&P Core 9mm?

Wow, I was just about to ask the same.
Also given that a separate adapter is required to mount it to the CORE, How/where do I find that adapter? Do they come individually or as a set?

Ready to order tonight if I can find out.
I didn't need any adapter other than the ones included with the pistol. I believe I used the #5 and everything screwed down perfectly. Order it without the picatinny rail.

I've had the Fastfire III on my CORE for about a month now, and I've had zero problems. Hits exactly to point of aim.

PS - My CORE is a .40 S&W that I converted to 9mm with a Storm Lake barrel. Didn't even need to change the zero. I have almost 1k rounds in both calibers since I bought it.

Thank you Sir! just what I needed to know. I'm picking up my new (to me) CORE this week. I didn't realize it came with adapters on it's own.

If you don't already know you might want to check if that used pistol comes with all or at least the one adapter plate you're gonna need with that optic...

I think the co-witness is over hyped . I used a Deltapoint on a Core for a couple of years and honestly, after I got used to the dot, never noticed the iron sights anymore. Most all of the new dots are robust enough and have enough battery life that failure is not a normal occurrence. I have a new pistol with a CMore sight and I left the stock sights off (this is a competition gun, I use iron sights for SD and carry) The Core sits in the safe most of the time now, my wife uses it on the odd weekend that I don't have a match.

Bkreutz is right you don't need the co-witness my rear site got left off while adjusting the DP and I didn't even notice it was gone for weeks. Don

Thanks for all the information. I have a J point sight on my Core now, and I think it is ****. This is great information, Thanks guys

You don't need back up iron sights on any gun with a working optic.

Until you do.

If you are going to have BUIS on a defensive pistol, they may as well be cowitnessed.

In personal defense shooting, every advantage/edge helps. Handicapping yourself doesn't make sense to me.

For purely recreational or unimportant shooting, eh. Do what you want. Use cheap stuff, infrequently, and don't worry when it doesn't work.

Thanks gents, Optics Planet had a 10% off sale so I splurged the extra $60 on the DeltaPoint. I liked the idea of the wider lens. Also even though I now know my CORE will come with it's own adapters, the thought of the extra included adapters for S&W revolvers, Glock and 1911's may come in handy at some point.

I tried several versions of the Deltapoints and didn't really care for them. I've always used Trijicon RMR's with great success. This time I went with the Eotech MRDS and really like it so far. Clear, crisp red dot (something I had trouble with on two separate Deltapoints - they were always fuzzy/grainy). The Eotech also came with a riser mount in case I want to put it on a rail top of a gun as well.

Does the Eotech MRDS co-witness with the Iron Sites?

Thanks

Looking at the picture I would think not. The top of the rear sight is the same height as the top of the Eotech base. (which I would prefer, gets the sights out of the way. ;))

I have been researching this a little and I am leaning to the Vortex Viper. It is the same price as the Burris. It uses the same plate as the Burris and has a lifetime warranty like the Burris. I think the viper may co-witness better also.

I found that it is currently not available but a little birdie told me maybe October. So I have until then to find my C.O.R.E. on sale somewhere hopefully. I have Vortex on my AR both red dot and scope so I am a fan.

Correct - it does not co-witness with the irons. The tops of the irons, along with the white dots are still usable though - just barely clearing the base of the red dot. I like that they don't get in the way at all, but if the battery dies I can still transition to the iron sights and use them as long as the lens area isn't blocked. At first I was a little disappointed that they didn't co-witness as all my rifle setups do, but once I've played with it some, I'm actually quite happy with the setup.

I have also have been looking and I am going to wait for the Vortex Viper. From their website and video it does co-wittiness. I like that I have the ability to turn it on or off.

Was on Vortex's web site. They are saying that the Viper Red Dot 6 MOA is "indefinitely postponed."

Right. I asked my gun shop, who is a distributor for Vortex, about them and he gave me an estimate of around 200+ bucks and also they would be available October, I didn't go any further than that as I was still looking around. I'm sure that's not in stone.

If I can find a discounted Fastfire III I might go that route.

I bought my M&P CORE in 40s&w and a second barrel KKM 9mm. Installed a RMR red dot sight and a Sig laser. The gun shoots great, the 9mm barrel is more accurate.

The red field is too long for the core cutout. Ie. It won't fit.

Thanks for that. Even emailed the shop and was told it does fit. I'm sure they're probably wrong. Glad I heard it from someone that knows. That would have sucked to buy one and find out the hard way.
My new to me CORE will be here tomorrow. I'm likely going with the Vottex or the Burris FF3.
