Permanent marker, metallic pen to mark mags?

I used Demel with engraving bit. I tried the Demel engraver that only buzzes and not rotate, didn't do much. Wasted $20.

I used:
10 mm stencil I bought from Amazon.

I don't mark guns or magazines. Any marker or paint you use will more than likely come off as soon as you use solvent, oils, etc. to clean. If you are in a competition and need to mark your mag's to retrieve later, than I'd suggest P-touch labels. Yes, they can be peeled off, but will stand up better than markers or paint to solvents and chemicals.

Engraving is permanent but will kill value when sold.

I use a pen called "sharpie" and they stay on for several years. The black lasts longer than the silver, but is somewhat harder to see. ;)

From what I've read so far, I still can't se any reason to mark mags. When I find one not working properly, and can't be fixed, it hits the garbage. Bouncing on the ground takes it toll. New mags are just part of proper maintenance.

Marking the mags simply makes it easier to find the questionable ones. I make notes in my range log about the type of malfunction, and the mag involved. Doesn't take long to see a pattern.

How many magazines in how may calibers, for how many guns kinda helps.
