CA Bulldog .44 spl., have any of you change your grips to wood grips? I want to change mine but can't google any wood grips up for a Bulldog 44 spl.

Sure have! First tried some vintage wood CA Bulldog grips.
Then on to some Herrett Shooting Ace grips. Like the Herretts the best. Thin but still hand filling. Got these by running a "WTB" ad right here in the S&W Forum classified ad section.

Just bought a first generation Bulldog, that had a huge pair of Pachmayr Grippers on it. I ordered a set of original wood stocks off Flea bay. Fit perfect and I believe the original stocks were some of the most effective stocks for a gun of that era and purpose. Make ya a good deal on some Grippers!

Yes. All Charter grips fit across all platforms. So google Charter Arms wood grips.

I owned one of the old Bulldogs in .44spl back when I did a lot of backpacking. Stock wood grips. Loaded it on the warm side. I found those wood grips uncomfortable with anything above soft factory loads. Rubbers are not as concealable or pretty as nice wood, but do help take the sting out of those little revolvers.

Yes....like Mike in Reedley, I first tried a set of Pachmayr Grippers. The original wood grips were way too small for my hand. The Pachs were great as far as fitting my hand goes, but not conducive for concealed carry. The grips were pretty sticky and would darn near start peeling skin off my right side at the end of a work day (it is in my EDC rotation, using a Sticky Holster). I then looked up Altamont to see what they had, and I picked up this nice set of finger grooved Rosewood laminate grips from them. The only bad part about these grips is it raps on my thumb joint when shooting it at the range---after about 4 cylinders full I've had enough. But the Grippers are great for range time, so I will hang onto them. Below are pics of the bulldog with the Altamonts on them.

I'm with Cocked & Locked. I have a 1973 vintage (Bridgeport) Bulldog and it came with the Compac grips. They are a little heavy, compared to others, but they are the best I've used for shooting.
I've tried the latest version of their ribbed rubber, boot grips - nice in all respects EXCEPT that they are two-finger grips only. Not so great when shooting warmer loads.
I also purchased and tried a pair of vintage mustang 3-finger combat style grips similar to the ones rjm6120 posted. They gave a good grip and were lighter than the Compac grips, but they don't conceal so great because they are so thick in the side to side dimension. I thought about sanding them down slimmer, and I may still, but I just hate to modify such classic wood.
So for now, it is the heavy rubber Compac grips for carrying for me.
