Hi,

I just purchased a 1971 LW Commander, and I am not sure if the slide is original to the gun.

I already have one 1974 Colt LW Commander, and the right side roll marks on the slide are:

"COLTS PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A."

I have looked up 1971 LW Commanders, there is currently one on GB, and it has the same right side roll marks as mine.

The '71 LW Commander that I just purchased has: "Colt's Commander Model" on the right side and not the longer address roll mark. The frame/SN check out with Colt as a 1971 gun.

The SN of this gun is in the 495xx range.
The GB gun is 355xx
There was one on Armslist listed as a 1972 and it also has the longer address line but I cannot see the SN.

Any thoughts on when they switched from the longer roll mark to "Colts Commander Model"? Thank you
