S&W M&P 9 2.0 Compact Accuracy

Hi folks, I've been comparing this gun with the Sig P365 lately. I have two friends that swear by the Sig P365, and it seems quite accurate, however I like the function of the S&W.
Input from those that own the little Smith would be much appreciated. :)

I'm more accurate with the 2.0 but the 365 just disappears and fits my needs nicely.

Thanks, I have noted the 365 is a bit smaller, and that should also be considered. I just like the mechanics of the S&W more. The full size one I have seems quite durable. ;)
 
Totally different class gun. I have an M&P Compact 2.0 and like it very much, but I don’t carry it. I used to carry a Glock 19 back in the day but I guess as I got older my perceived needs changed and my comfort level became more important. For me, the Compact is a belt gun only, and not an inside the waist band gun.

A closer comparison would be the Shield be the 365, but even that isn’t much of a comparison. I have the Shield and like it a lot, but the 365 is smaller, lighter, and carries more ammo.

For me, carry is all about weight and size and every inch and ounce counts. My carry gun is a Ruger LC9S. Virtually same size and weight as the 365 but carries 3 less rounds. I’m not about to spend over $500 on gun that is the same size and weight as what I have just to get three rounds that I am sure I will never need. I couldn’t sell the Shield and Ruger together to get enough money to buy a 365.

I have an older Ruger LC9, and really like that one. My biggest concern with it is the possibility of rust. I do wish they had made the slide from stainless steel. I hear the 365 has a stainless slide, and that's another consideration I almost forgot.
I have read that the S&W M&P9 2.0 compact was meant to compete directly with the Glock 19 in terms of size.
 
The M&P 2.0 Compact is in Compact Carry Pistol (CCP) Division in IDPA, and we have two shooters in our club who use them. One is a Master Class shooter who amazes with his fast and VERY ACCURATE shooting (he is also a local LEO who carries the M&P Compact as his duty pistol).
The other club member who shoots the 2.0 Compact (which has the full APEX treatment) is a NOVICE class shooter who complains his M&P is just not accurate.
I have shot both guns from rest and they are equally accurate, about the same as my 5" M&P Pro. Our Master Class shooter just does a better job of holding his pistol still and operating the trigger smoothly and FAST.
In his hands, my 5" M&P Pro is a "Master Class SSP pistol."

I have both a full size 2.0 and the compact and I love shooting both and find them very accurate and comfortable in my hand. For me I could carry the compact if I wasn't wearing shorts and a tee which is the norm in FL. I don't feel I need shootout round quantity in a carry gun, I feel I need get out of situation rounds and therefore carry a Sig 938. The M&P compact is in my car if I need. I believe if its comfortable to conceal and you are accurate you should carry it.
 
Depends on what your expectations are for accuracy. For non subcompact (I.e. greater than 3" barrel) self defense firearms (polymer), my requirement is ~3-3.5" groups off sandbags at 25 yards, less is better. Some are happy with that at 10 yards, to each their own.

The only ammunition my 3.6" M&P 2.0 will shoot to that criteria so far is the Speer Gold Dot 124 JHP +P. Very finicky.. Have yet to find a reload that will meet that criteria after numerous combinations that work just perfectly in my other 9mms of varying make/manufacturer. Mine may be the exception and not the norm but can be very frustrating.
 
I just purchased the 4" M&P 2.0 and I enjoy shooting it. It is as accurate as any of my other M&Ps-Full Size or Compact. I was considering a Glock 19, but am more comfortable with the M&P.

As an side, I have carried a Shield 9mm for several years. It's as small a pistol as I'm comfortable carrying. I only carry OWB, I've never been comfortable carrying IWB. Get what is right/comfortable for you. S&W and Ruger have been my choices over the years and I've always been happy. :-)
 
My EDC is a 4" 2.0 Compact in 9mm. I find it very comfortable for appendix carry but I know that's a very personal thing. I also have a Shield 9 but for me the Compact is much more accurate and that's the main reason it's my carry gun.

I recently bought a Compact in .45 and find that it's even more accurate than the 9, but not to the extent that I plan to carry it instead. I might eventually make that switch once I have enough rounds through the .45 to trust it to be as reliable as the 9 has been.

I feel that any inaccuracy in either of those guns is on me not the gun.

Your trying for a apples to apples comparison !! Your getting big ole red delicious vs smaller granny smith .

You could say the m&p compact 2.0 3.6" is closer to the p320XC !!

To be more clear, I have compared side by side till I'm blue in the face. I like what I see in the Sig 365 so far. I also like the S&W for a lot less money. I used to carry an all steel Colt Mustang in .380. I loved that gun, but I had it in my pocket in Las Vegas on an unusually humid day. When I pulled it out to check it that evening, it had surface rust on the side closest to my body. I was pissed, as the gun was pristine. I take care of my guns. Now with pistols chambered in 9mm being really close in size today, I went with the LC9. I just don't want the next gun I buy rusting, and I heard that may be a problem with the LC9. I have been carrying it in an outside the waist holster with no problem in winter, but not as concealable in the summer.

I've heard about rust issues with LC9's and never experienced it. I owned the original LC9 and now the LC9S. Never an issue. The Ruger is a cheaper gun so MAYBE more care must be taken with rust but I wipe my guns down with Barricade after cleaning them and I wipe them down before putting them in the safe, and I don't store them in a holster, so I've never had a spot of rust.

For me, if I was buying a first time small concealed carry piece, I would probably go with the Sig. But you can get a Ruger for half the price, and mags aren't nearly as expensive, so if money is a factor, the Ruger is a great gun.

I also have the MP 2.0 Pro Series 5" barrel but I left the trigger bone stock. Did you get the Apex for yours? I been debating and I know the Apex is a great trigger but I can shoot the MP bone stock almost as well so it's hard to justify spending $180

The P365 for me at least, and I also have the Gray Guns Flat Face trigger but the gun still has a lot of creep. The MP 2.0 compact is a lot more crisper than the P365 and I can shoot the MP much faster.

The 365 requires more trigger time and if you are shooting several guns it's a difficult gun to just pick up and shoot fast. Now if I only owned that gun and no other, then I think I could easily master and overcome the terrible creep in it.
 
I don't own a single Sig firearm. I'm sure they're just great. I do, however, own many M&Ps. I'm a lefty, and do not want to train to drop a mag with my trigger finger. My EDC is the 2.0 9mm Subcompact with 12+1 capacity. I carried my 2.0 compact for a short time, and also carried my Gen 5 G19. All IWB. My Subcompact Carrie's vastly better than either of those 2, and I can punch holes in a small circle at a high rate of fire just as accurately as I can with my Compacts, or fullsize for that matter. I highly recommend the Subcompact 3.6"

The Subcompact is one I was unaware of. I'll have to look at those.

I can't speak highly enough of the Subcompact. It's virtually the same size as my shield, yet has 13 round capacity. It also comes with grip adapters for the 15, and 17 round mags.

Now I'll have to really look at one. My newly acquired understanding is they are very comparable in size to the 365?
