Misc. .22 Rifles

I have a bunch of .22’s. For some reason I really like the springfield/Stevens model 87’s...the click clack typewriter sounding rifles ...the ability to make it a bolt action...just an odd yet cool design

Winchester 52 "B"model made in 1946,BSA martini and another BSA with a shorter heavier barrel. It's built as a solid frame rifle. But sometime in the past it was made and sold as a take down rifle still have to fit the buttstock on this one.Case hardened finger lever that most likely came from one of the International BSA match rifles. Took the barreled action out back of the house to check if the firing pin strike needed after swapping out finger levers. Firing pin strike was where it's supposed to be. And pull weight is down around 2.5 pounds. The other is a Remington 513T shoots very well. Frank

The Ruger 10/22 I made up for my little guy who is no longer a little guy. Still fun for killing golf balls and soda cans.

You guys have some really nice .22's. I only have one - a Ted Williams Model 3T semi-auto I bought new in 1969 when I worked part-time at Sears as a teenager. It was made by Winchester, and is basically the same as their Model 190, although the Sears version is rated for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle. If memory serves, the Winchester was not rated for Shorts.

In the picture, the shoulder stock appears to be cracked, but it's just the grain of the walnut. The scope is a Nikon 3-9 power Prostaff Rimfire model.

Some impressive collections and singles here.

I'm down to one 22 rifle these days, a 1973 Marlin 39a. Very accurate shooter and I love plinking with 22 shorts through it. A think it holds 11 billion of them. :)

Quiet with those little buggers too.

My two Browning SA-22s. Both Belgians, one made in 1964 and the other a 1969. The '69 was treated rough, broken stock and rusty, but I fixed it up, and it is by far the better shooter of the two.

The first gun I shot was a Remington model 12. My Dad had some rotten eggs and we floated them down the creek and shot at them. The Thumbtrigger is my "bear" gun. It's chambered in short, long and extra long

Growing up, one of my friend's had the Winchester Model 1899 "thumb trigger" that belonged to his great uncle. IIRC, it was chambered in .22 Short and Long only. We used to buy our .22s at the local gas station. :)

I found the plain wood 1978 XTR in a large local gun shop and found the 16" trapper in the same shop about 6 months later mis-racked and mis

OK, I'm going out on a limb.

Remington Nylon 66.
IMHO, the most innovative .22 rifle and what a utility .22 should be. Light, accurate, almost indestructible fast shooting. If they had parkerized it (or today nitrided it) or made it in stainless for rust resistance would be perfection.

Mine are, 2 Remington Nylon 66s, I had one and then inherited my Dad's, also an H&R 760, an interesting single shot that ejects the fired casing and stays open for a reload. Between them they have "done in" a bunch of snakes and other critters over the years!

Like this one ? It had some light rust on the barrel when I got it, so since I do Cerakote, the barrel and receiver shell got done in Sniper Grey Cerakote.
Much more corrosion resistant than Parkerized or bare stainless.

great old revived thread!

Just gotta love .22's, be it revolvers, pistols, rifles. My only 22 rifle is the last one left...the others have gone to kids and other homes that would actually use them.

Last one in the safe: A Remington Nylon 66, barrel date coded June 1960, serial number before the 68 GCA requiring serial numbers on receivers. Being in Seneca Green is a tiny plus as less were made than Mohawk Brown...unbelievable that Remington cranked out more than 1,000,000 of these innovative rifles before discontinuing in 1991.

Fast, Accurate, Fun...fun...fun with almost any ammo we have ever fed this guy, including some el cheapo, stinky stuff. The only hint I ever took seriously was to "NOT try and detail strip..just clean completely assembled". They meant it!

Thanks for reviving this old thread....it seems everyone enjoys 22's and their associated old memories.
