I made a big mistake when I sold my .45 stainless Colt Bisley. I do Like that caliber. Sold a shotgun that I haven't shot for many years and bought this Blackhawk 45 Convertible on the web. Of course anything is hard to come by. The dealer it came from sold 10 in 4 days. Picked mine up yesterday at the FFL. It came with cheap Ruger plastic grips. Got the new Zebra wood stocks the same day.So now I have another 45 ACP revolver and another Colt. This makes me happy! Wish I was a better photographer. Bob

Sweeet! I have the 45LC/45acp convertible and am looking for a 6.5" 9mm/357 convertible to fill the holster on a cool cowboy rig I just picked up.

How well does a 9mm/.357 shoot? 9mm is .355, and 38/357 is .358? Do the .38/.357 need to be lead, not jacketted? Or the 9mm sized oversized?

I have an Old Model Blackhawk Convertible in .357 with the 9mm cylinder. Accuracy with the 9mm cylinder and factory hardball was not as good as several loads in .38 Special and .357 magnum out of the .357 cylinder, but were more than adequate for plinking.

I sure think that combination is an ideal gun to have if you have limited funds or want to downsize your collection. The versatility of being able to shoot anything from .38 Special wadcutters up to full house .357 hunting loads plus any kind of 9mm ammo including hollowpoints that may not feed well in other guns is pretty impressive.

I'd like to have one of the Ruger .45 ACP/.45 Colt convertibles too.

Replaced the too slick rosewood on my vaqueros with checkered buffalo horn and stag. Did leave the black micarta grips on the birdshead but had a guy laser carve them with a card suit pattern at a regional cas match.

I had a 4 5/8” 357 &9mm convertible for a while. It shot decent groups with 9mm and my .357 handloads but realize that with the 115-124 gr 9mm compared to the typical 158 gr .357 you are going to get a different point of impact on targets. So if you want to hit point of aim you are going to have to adjust your rear sight every time you switch ammo. Not a big deal really though. My gun pierced the primers with 9mm but because of the design of the Blackhawk I didn’t get any hot gas in my face thankfully. I kept it for a while and traded it off. I personally think the dual caliber factor is over rated and most owners will probably end up sticking with one or the other. If you have lots of 9mm laying around and no semi autos it might be a good idea to have a convertible.

My Blackhawk convertible dates to 1974, and I have had it since then. I like to shoot it in ACP, soft shooting, accurate and fun (spell that cheap!). It is a 7-1/2" model.
I also have a SBH in .44 Magnum in 7-1/2" and a new to me but old Blackhawk in .30 Carbine, also 7-1/2. The oddball in the pic is a Navy Arms 1875 Remington also in 45LC.

I have the 357/9mm convertible in 6-1/2” blue. The 38/357 shoots lead or jacketed equally well. Very accurate and smooth gun. 9mm isn’t quite as accurate although it’s not bad. I may try loading .358 lead in some 9mm cases. I’ve read of people doing that. I think the lesser accuracy is due to the smaller diameter of 9mm vs 38/357.

Great gun in any case and fun to shoot.

I also bought the shorter non convertible 45LC and really like it but wish I’d bought the convertible. I have a 625-2 4” 45 acp and thought there would be no point in getting the extra cylinder.

I have never shot anything but cast in mine. It does OK but is not a bullseye gun. Both are sized 0.359"
