So my girlfriend was over and we were searching for a movie to watch and I saw the first season of Jonny Quest for sale on Prime Video for 25 bucks and I was big Jonny Quest fan when I was a kid in the early 1960s so I had to buy. It lived up to the excitement I remembered with a lot of action, gunfire, and violence that every young boy back then enjoyed. The animation was not quite as good on my 65" TV but back then we only had a 13" TV and we were some of the richer folks on the block.

Assuming you're taking about the original 1964-65 series. I was a big fan, but being as I was born in '61, I'm guessing my memories are of reruns. I'm surprised it only ran for the one season. I must have seen every episode dozens of times.

Remember JQ well. My cousin was a fan too and the family named their dog Bandit. Unmistakable opening theme/sequence. As soon as I read the thread title the theme started in my head.

Was a great show, before the world turned

Just like GI Joe's before they became "The Adventure Team"

I remember watching reruns in the late 60's. Was my favorite cartoon.

the timing is making me laugh.. this past weekend I played the theme song when I found it on YouTube... the wife was a fan as well... the animation style is copied somewhat in the Archer series...

Yep, me and my brother watched it at the neighbor's kid's house on their console TV. Neighbor Dave would make a big bowl of popcorn with so much butter that there was always a puddle of butter in the bottom of the bowl.... good memories for sure.

Take pity on me.

Growing up there was only one television station (BBC). It only broadcast a few hours in the morning and a few in the evening. The only kids show I remember was chewing gum for the eyes. Not having any other shows to gauge it by I thought this was what television magic was.

Remember, this was all I had. Please watch it until the end. It starts getting bizarre around the 2 minute mark.

I was more of a Prince Planet guy!!!! Prince Planet could totally kick Johnny Quest butt.

I loved that cartoon when I was a kid! I was also a fan of George of the Jungle and Dudley Do-Right.

“Oh Nell, you love my horse more than me!” :D

Take pity on me.

No wonder we were able to defeat the British. Good grief!

I saw all the Johnny Quests when new - born in '57. It was on in prime time in the St. Louis market back then. Six-thirty Thursday evening. To my knowledge it was never on Saturday mornings around the St. Louis market.

Who didn't want to be Johnny? Although Race was incredibly cool and Hadji was a genius Johnny had the most adventure it seemed. Dr. Quest was too amazing to be true - never figured out what his PhD was in as he seemed to be the world's authority on virtually everything.

When we had a son, late, I sent off for the full set of Johnny on disc. When he was six or seven we watched them all together and it was better than the first time around. He's almost 16 now and once in a while we'll still pull them out for a quick episode or two.

I enjoyed The 8th Man too although it was early amine, Japanese, with dubbed English. Still very cool but Johnny was always number one.
