This came in a few days ago.
Although, I haven't been able to do anything other than play with and clean it. I've had damnedst cold know for almost 3 weeks! I've never had a cold last so long. I hardly ever get sick. But, I cannot control what my daughter brings back from that cesspool- I mean school - just burns me up that parents knowingly let their kids go to school sick as a dog!
Anyway, I'm sorry. I HATE getting sick.
As for the rifle, it's a CZ 457 Varmint in .22LR
It has an adjustable trigger which I was able to get down from 3.5 to 2.25 pounds. Breaks like a glass rod too. I think she'll be a great shooter.
Here's a couple pics. Thanks for letting me share & please excuse the cold rant

Nice rifle. CZ's are well built and pretty accurate. What optics are you planning to put on it? And get well soon. It is the cold and flu season, you know. .22 WMR or LR?

Thank you, Eric -
It's a 22 LR. As for a scope, I'm actually not sure yet.
Gotta say, I'm partial to Vortex though. And, I'll put some nice glass on this little fella.

I have a 455 Varmint in .22LR and it is a joy to shoot. I bought a 17HMR barrel for it and it is equally as accurate, but I use the .22LR barrel for the most part.

I am also a Vortex scope fan, this rifle is sporting an older 4x16x50. 100yd + shots on crows and misc other things are pretty sweet, and much quieter than the 17HMR. My .22lr barrel likes Wolf Match Target and SK Standard +.

Hope you are able to break yours in soon.

Tim

Very nice rifle!

My last firearm acquisition was a CZ 455 American .22LR, forerunner of the 457 series. The 455 American features a classic style checkered walnut stock and sporter-weight barrel. Came with factory steel 1" scope rings, which I have yet to use. I chose a Williams short front ramp with bead and simple receiver sight for the primary use as a slim & trim lightweight small game rifle.

CZ has captured the market for high quality rim-fire rifles in the classic style. Blued steel and checkered walnut appeal to me much more than all the stainless and plastic wonders that seem to dominate this sector today.

Thank you, Tim
I appreciate the info. I've got a little Lapua Midas + as all as some Eley Match - I've heard more than once though of these 457's liking SK ammo as well as Wolf Match Target. Also very interested in getting a 17 HMR barrel as well. Never shot 17HMR but, am interested in it.

Thank you, sir! 😃
Ya know, they really do make a beautiful rifle
I would love to see a pic of yours
The only thing I dint like about this 457 is that the barrel is Nitride. I really wish they would've stayed with the blue finish.

Great little plinker. Can't really go wrong with a Vortex. I would suggest whatever you decide on, get something with an AO, especially for rimfire.

Tim, how did you get a .17HMR barrel to work with a .22LR? I know you can swap a .17HMR with a .22WMR, depending on the rifle make/model (I have one - Ruger 77/22WMR converted to .17HMR), but didn't think you can do it with a .22LR. Unless the mag well on the CZ will accept both .22LR and .22WMR mags?

The CZ rim-fire rifles of the 452-455-457 series feature interchangeable barrels and the magazine well has an insert that will allow .22LR magazines, or removed to allow the longer mags for .22WMR or .17HMR. Conversion can be done by the user with minimal effort or tools.

One of the interesting features of the CZ rifles. They offer rifles with multiple barrels as well as replacement barrels for those wishing to have the capability to change out for different uses.

The ammo you have will defineatly bring out the accuracy of your rifle.

The interchangeable barrel system with the CZ rimfires is amazing. Super quick, with solid lock up. I looked at a 17HMR and a 22 mag barrel, but at that time, 4yr ago, there was not much .22 mag ammo available so i went with the 17HMR as the extra barrel. It is a super accurate round, but I just enjoy a sweet shooting .22lr more.

If I were to make the choice today, I would buy a 22mag barrel instead of the 17HMR.

Ahhhh, thank you for that explanation. I did not know that, hence my question. That is a great idea on CZ's part.

I've owned a 452FS, 452 Trainer, and currently own one of the euro threaded 455Lux models. CZ makes some damn fine rimfires.
