Greetings! With the current events of the day combined with the potential of ammunition shortages in 2024 due to global conflicts, I'm looking to add some more primers to my inventory.

I am finding some good (by today's standard) prices on SPP manufactured by Aguila and Ginex, brands that I have never used before. What experience-based opinions might the forum have?

As always, thanks in advance for your help!

I had a couple thousand Ginex small pistol primers that I used with a 3 grain load of Bullseye and a 158 grain .38 Special round. I had a few failure to fires, that went on the second strike. The gun used has a lighter than normal action, but set up to fire Winchester and Federal primers. My very limited experience leads me to believe they are a tad harder than Winchester. I do not use CCI primers, so maybe comparable to them. In any event, I would buy more if the price was right, as the very few misfires I had may have come from factors other than the primer.

Ginex are a little harder to seat using a hand priming tool, I think the Argentina ones are a little easier. I recently got some Win so I'm happy now.

I've had no experience with foreign primers; they may work well, but I'd prefer to spend a little more and get USA-made primers. I use mostly CCI for all handgun and rifle cartridges just as I have for almost sixty years. If I can't find them, I'll go with Federal, but I've never had a problem with the Winchester and Remington primers I've used.

I recently used up the last of 10,000 Ginex SPP that I bought about 5-6 years ago when they were $119 per 5000. They were used in a variety of loads from .25 ACP to .357 Magnum with no problems. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again if needed. I'm currently working on a big supply of Winchester and Federal primers acquired around the same time.

I've purchase both and had no problems with either. However I've been seeing Winchester and CCI on sale locally for $69/K and either would be my first choice. Although only SPP. Today I paid $85/K for a brick of Winchester LR primers simply because I'm running low and there are the first I've seen in two years. But if either of the Ginex of Arg. primers had been available at a more competitive price I'd had no qualms about buying either.

I just thought I toss this into the mix.
I've been using Servicios y Aventuras SPP I purchased through Norma several months ago. It was per email notification and I was able to purchase 7 thousand at $60.00 per 1000...no shipping, hazmat, nor sales tax, shipped to my door.
I find them as hard as, if not very slightly harder than CCI primers.
I've read they are marginally larger around than standard primers. but if so, it's very marginal.
I just make sure they are fully seated flush or slightly deeper than my normal Winchester or Federal SSP.
They work well whether through my Dillon 550, my Lee single stage, or an RCBS Universal primer.
My LCR's in .38 and 9mm, as well as Glocks and K frames have absolutely no trouble setting them off.

While Federal and Winchester are my historical favorites I would certainly give the Aguila and/or Ginex primers a try. And will pick up more of these S&A's if the price is right.

Thankfully I still have a reasonable supply of Winchester and Federal. But with all that's going on in this world it doesn't hurt to expand our horizons. :)

Ginex LPP are my main pistol primer now.
The Euro primers are a little harder to seat but not by much.
I use the Sinclair hand primer which has quite a bit of leverage.
The brissance of the Ginex is in between the WLP (hot) and the CCI (cooler) IMHO.
Never had a problem with them.
They may have less variance than the WLP or are more appropriate for target loads than the more powerful WLP.

I bought 1000 Aquila SPP's this year. All of them did their job. I bought Federal Large Pistol Primers this year. Ditto. The Federals cost around $10 more delivered. I think I will stick to Federal.
