I'm better on primers than I thought I was.

I have about 9000 small pistol and 1000 small rifle.

About 600 large rifle and about 100 large pistol.

All I really need to do is get some large and small rifles and I should be good for a while.

Prices and availability are a tad better than they were. I hope to get some $$ in the next week. I hope to make a purchase.

I'm starting to see SP and SR at gun shows for around $65. LPs for a little more but large rifle are still $100 per K. I'm good on all, having bought a large amount of mixed types at auction just before Covid. I've also managed to find a few thousand LPs and LR at small gun shows for $5 to $6 a sleeve. These were all older primers but they have all gone bang. Haven't bought any new stock in at least 5 or 6 years.

I too am ok on primers. Checked a local shop two days ago and they were asking $169 per 1000...whoa.
Whoa, indeed! I just looked up my local shop, they are still charging $80 to $105 per 1000. As online retailers continue to lower prices, that will put pressure on brick and mortar shops to lower their prices, otherwise their primers will be sitting on the shelves for a very long time.

I hope I live as long as my primer and powder supply lasts - luckily I have many! :D Should have enough to leave some in my will - lol. :D Seriously, I stocked up when they cost $27/1,000 and under $14/can of powder. All kept in an ac climate controlled environment. :)

I bought Federal 205, 210, & 215 Match in 5000 cases at $19/1000 before the last two shortages.

In 2008 I lost a job unexpectedly. I went to my LGS and sold my CCI stash for the then current wholesale price. I don't remember the total quantity, but it was $820 worth. That paid my heating for that winter. In 2012 I had another unexpected unemployment, I sold my Strategic Reserve of lead to a caster, that was 45 cents a pound, time 900 pounds.

I made a lot of money over what I paid for lead and primers in the 90's! But replacing the stash is far mor expensive!

Ivan

I'm still hovering around 65,000 assorted primers.

I’m fortunate in that I have what I need…… but in digging into my primer stock I found this…….ahh….the good old days…..
