Glock 19x

I've got a 19 and a 17 - both 3rd gens that I've had a long time. I don't understand why anyone would want a 19 slide on a 17 frame. If you are going to take the extra size of the hardest part to conceal, why not take the extra barrel length in improve site radius and ammo velocity?

I'm sure it's a great gun, but the 19 is better for concealing and the 17 is a better shooter. Not by a lot, but this is the internet and we like to split hairs...

It's because it's the new fad and they seen the military use it. It makes no sense to me either to have a compact slide and a full sized grip. It's Glocks great marketing. They sell the same guns, generate extra excitement, and get people to buy another one of their guns by only changing the slide finish, finger grooves, and or add or subtract a quarter of an inch or so from the grip or slide. Then everyone goes crazy and proclaims how great more of the same is lol.

The Colt commander came out in 1949 so the concept isn’t exactly new. I get the Glock hate I wasn’t a fan until I was issued one 25 years ago. Shorter slide equals shorter holster. Perhaps insignificant to some but when you’re wearing a duty belt ten hours a day and riding in a squad it makes a difference. Plastic pistol, Tupperware, lacks soul etc but pretty is as pretty does and glocks flat work period. I’m glad to have more choices, models and brands to choose from. Ain’t capitalism grand?
