Last year I got a 6906 from my daughter for Christmas. It was good condition, but had odd corrosion on front of grip and trigger guard. Well, my daughter came through again. A near mint late 6906, in the S&W factory serial numbered original case, with manual and paperwork, two magazines.

Serial number BOD: 1999. a few bumps on grip, but little wear on the pistol. I put my slim, single side 469 safety and trimmed slide stop on it. I found a home for my other one. I'll use it for every day carry when nostalgic, but mostly I'll use my CZ-83 13+1 .380. It prints less, and carries easier.

imarangemaster: Nice looking CZ, where did you get the grips?

I've got one I hardly ever think of as when I think .380 as I kinda focus on a 380 EZ or a Walther PK380 that are in the safe. I guess I gotta get to the range and have a shoot out. (I've had a Beretta 85F forever, but it's almost as big as some of my 9s and 40s; but it's kinda nice and I'd hate to sell it. [Hmmm...wonder what it's worth?])

KSD Grips in Turkey. They make the wood grips that CZ sells on thier site. Surprisingly, no thicker than the nylon grips! This was a bottom end pair. They have some really beautiful stuff.

I had a Beretta 84. It was much bulkier than the CZ-83.

Nice 6906.

I’ve got the M83’s M&P cousin, the M82 in 9mmMak. Great little shooter and super accurate!

Interesting. Other than my Summer carry (a Model 36 in a front pocket holster), those are my two carry guns as well...even to the point of having KSD walnut grips on the CZ-83!

Picked up the 6906 today out of 10 day Comiefornia gun jail. Right now, I waering it under my T-Shirt in a high-ride, leather pancake style, though I also like my modified sticky holster for IWB.

I have it loaded with 124 grain +P Gold Dots, at the moment. Per Lucky Gunner Labs, from a 3.5" barrel, it gives 1141 fps/364 ft lbs ME, and opens to .54" in FBI spec Gel test.

I like my 6906 I found a few years ago. Good shooter. Then early in '23 I found a 3913. Basically the same gun, 4 less rounds in the mag, but it is one of the earliest of the "smaller" full-size autos. Accurate, and much easier to carry than the double stack 6906.

I carried my 6906 for a period of time and then I discovered the 39xx guns. I kept my 6906 (and added a 6946), but carry a 3913TSW (no rail) or sometimes my CS9.

I found about 16 rounds of 1970/80 vintage Speer Lawman 100 grain JHP. It had a truncated cone design, and gave about 1320 fps out of our Model 59 S&W. It was a hot little pill. My original 469 I got in the 80s loved it! I don't know whether to shoot it, or load my duty mag with it for good luck and old times sake!

Reading my old posts here about my prior 9mm compact S&Ws, I remember that I actually shot the Federal 9BPLE 115 +P+ (the old Illinois State Police load) better than the 124 +P Gold Dots in rapid fire.

Thats even though they give 1350 fps and 465 ft lbs ME. Thats 25% more energy into the target than gold dot. WOW! I may re-think this.

I can remember carrying that Speer 100 grain JHP in the mid to late 70’s when that was the only JHP 9 MM in stock when I needed carry ammo. I remember shooting some one gallon water filled milk jugs and it preformed pretty good. If I remember correctly it stopped in the third jug which is pretty typical for decent hollow point ammo.

I had a 39-2 at the time and I also carried the 200 grain 45 ACP Speer JHP (flying ash tray) in my Satin Nickel Combat Commander and my Detonics Combat Master.

When I fired my first S&W Model 59 9mm at the police academy in 1975, the Salinas PD guys had 59s with a stubby 88 or 95 grain (can't remember which) loading from Smith & Wesson in a Blue box with white writing. It was rounded and stubby, with a dish shaped hollow point.

I bought one for off duty carry in 1977/78ish, and all I could get was the 100 grain Speer JHPs. I started carrying the 59 loaded with Speer 100s as a duty weapon in 1979 at Ridgefield, WA PD. In 1981, I went to Bellevue Washington PD, and we carried issued 59s with Winchester Silvertips. I still used the Speer 100s in my 59, and in about 1986ish, in my 469.

Syd Woodcock of Detonics, would use our Bellevue PD pistol range. I met him. The guy had a heck of a resume'. He "did things" for the Government, as he put it, and worked with CIA, DOD, and State Dept. He also did a lot of training for them also.

He also designed a prototype of the Leatherman tool. He showed it to me in the range one day.

I stand corrected. Salinas PD used S&W 90 grain soft point. IIRC, S&W developed the round specifically for their 39s and 59s. It was pretty zippy at almost 1400 FPS, if I remember correctly. They had a dozen officers at my academy class, and as far as I recall, they never had any malfunctions with it.

Maybe there was a 88 grain HP version with a dished nose. It was only50 years ago, LOL

Interesting note about my Ridgefield PD time. The Chief, Ron Pease (RIP) was a great guy. He was an old IPSC shooter, and issued Model 66s, with 38 ammo! At my first qualification day at the Department (I was a lateral from the SO in California), I showed him the 59 I had.

On a bet, we did a Mano Y Mano at 10 yards on B-27 Silhouette targets. He had his 6" Combat Master piece with 6 rounds, and two 6 round Safariland speed loaders of 6 rounds, for a total of 18 rounds. I had my Model 59 with three 14 round mags of Speer Lawman 100 grain JHPs, plus one in the spout for 43 rounds.

The Sgt. blew a whistle and we both drew and fired. I put 95% of the 43 rounds in the 10 and X rings in the time he did the same with 18 from the Combat Masterpiece.

I won the bet, and got to carry my 59 instead of the issue 66. Ron was so impressed, that the next day he went into Vancouver (WA) and bought a nickel plated Mode 59 to carry. we teased him that it was a "Pimp-O-Matic". He said he did nickel because we get so much rain in Washington state, and it won't rust.

Good memories there, but with my bunch of kids to support, I went to Bellevue in 1981 for almost double my Ridgefield pay. At Bellevue we were issued Model 59s with Silvertip ammo, then switched (in a giant step backwards) to 439s in the mid 80s because certain officers of smaller stature (you know what I mean) complained the 59 grip was too big. The irony was that I was a rangemaster, and some of the best shots with the model 59 were those same officers...Nuff said.

Bellevue was expanding, and were actively recruiting former California officers. IIRC, we had about 140 officers in Bellevue, and over 10% were recruited from Cali. California's POST had better training standards at the time, than Washington's WSCJTC.

Just ordered a custom Falco IWB holster for my 6906. Suede, with leather mouth re-enforcement and sweat guard panel. Has the belt loops front and rear, rather than a bulky clip on top of the weapon like most suede IWB holsters. Much flatter and less print.

I got the holster. Perfect fit, supple suede with cowhide re-enforcement around the mouth of the holster to allow re-holstering. Also the sweat guard is suede with cowhide on the sikn sideReally comfortable. I carry it at about 4:30 position, and it sucks in well and limits the "print" of the pistol on my shirt. A++ for this Czech made holster.:o
