1911 Grip Update

It is hard not to LOVE Ivory on blue steel

I do like the look of Ivory although I have mixed feelings about killing an elephant for his teeth. Mammoth Ivory on the other hand can also be very nice and I like the creamier solid Mammoth over the mottled bark look. I also prefer solid over the stuff with cracks and stabilization. I just can't afford Ivory

Nothing fancy here. Found these in a gun shop in Pa. hanging on the wall. The packaging had KIMBER GRIPS on it. Only thing Kimber I own. The Colt frame started life in 1958 as a .38 Super.

I'm extremely pleased with the American Ivory grips I bought from Boone Trading: 1911 Pistol Grips They have a lesser item called Simulated Ivory, but to my eyes, the American Ivory looks closer to real elephant ivory.

Here are a couple pics of the American Ivory grips on a Gold Cup:

The few sets of pewter grips that I have handled did not feel like they would be comfortable to shoot. Just a set of nice wood grips would be my choice. No checkering would be better to me.

Grasshorn elk stag. Sorry to take 3 posts. Had it all in the first post but gremlins took over. 🥹

I really like these! How often do they have them in stock and do they go quickly when they do?

They are essentially made to order. I contacted the owner and he said he'd call me when he had a pair available. He did and posted them on the website for me to consider. He advised me to decide quickly because once they were posted, they'd go pretty quickly.

Great guy to work with. I think you'll be pleased.
