My last trip to Best Buy

In just about all stores, I've found the app will save you a boatload of time finding things. All the employees do is look it up on the app anyway.

Kroger will even take your list and put them in order with the aisle number so you don't go past anything.

We had great service at our local Best Buy, they were always busy, had trophy's on the wall for top sales, etc. Then the store was closed, and in 3 months left. Wonderful decision by management?

Now a newly re-configured V A medical center is there needless to say they are very busy.

Few years back I took one of those Logitech remotes back to best buy, got it as a Christmas gift, now, mind you, I never deal with best buy, the girl behind the counter told me this was the last time I could return an item as I've had too many returns. I told her this was the 1st time I've dealt with the store since they opened. She said she's looking at a long list of returns. I said get your Dam manager. He Saunders over and say yep, too many returns. I say, if I've never purchased from you how can I have returns ? He took my drivers license from the bimbo and looked and said "oh my" we've got the wrong customer. My address didn't match with the one showing. He said we'd be happy to give you a gift card, I told him not only did he lose me as a potential customer, but he just lost out on the sale of 25 32" Samsung tvs I was buying for my ER staff as a Christmas gift for all their great work. Took the gift card and left the cart with 25 Samsung tvs. Went to Walmart, found the same tvs for 23 bucks cheaper. On the way to work I stopped at food lion and sold the $115 gift card for 70 bucks. Since then, I've changed my hospital systems electronics purchases away from best buy, and I let corporate know they lost tons of money. Also informed them they should be glad my ER didn't run like their stores.

I used to like Best Buy. Prices were great. The one near me closed. I thought all of them in the area were closed. But according to GypsumJim post there must be one still around in WNY. I’ll have to investigate.

Last time I visited a BB was for a replacement radio for my ‘12 Wrangler. Two guys in audio, one was a trainee. The trainer couldn’t answer basic questions about a Pioneer radio head. When I asked about Sirius capability I was told “It’s built into the radio” despite the tag and a earlier call that I made to Crutchfield that said otherwise.

I wanted to talk to their installer as I didn’t want my wiring cut and hacked, pre retirement I worked in auto dealership parts almost fifty years and saw some real sketchy things done by installers over the years. After our talk I wasn’t in a too confident frame of mind with him either.

Went to different audio store, they were more focused on upsells with amps and subs (A Wrangler with a 70 y/o driver!) and gave up when he started talking a couple grand minimum.

Went to a Jeep forum and bought a used radio from there, problem solved.

I wouldn’t ask car radio questions to anyone other than Crutchfield. I have installed two radios from them.

You must've not done any homework at all before your visit.

For at least 10 years, radios aren't "spliced". They have a harness that matches the radio plug-in. Heck, maybe it's 20 years as I used to buy mine at Radio Shack.

Any radio that is Bluetooth available IS ok for Sirius radio. Any. Radios seem to no longer have a Sirius button to push as they do for AM or FM.

My semi-local Best Buy has a wonderful installer lead tech. As one who has done dozens of radio installs since 1976, I appreciate a good professional in this job. Lord knows *I* wouldn't try it now with the large screen displays & all the other foolishness that surrounds a modern car/truck radio.

The floor sales people aren't any better or different from the $10/hr goober who works at Bass Pro, Academy or whomever. Big box stores don't hire these people for their experience or brains, they hire them to babysit a customer. Nothing more, nothing less.

Do your own homework beforehand OR find someone who knows their stuff & bring them along. Then you won't have to whine about the experience later.

My .o2

I’m fortunate to have a good Best Buy near me. Last month I bought myself a 65” tv for my birthday and had a great salesman to talk with. Not only did I get a good deal but it went on sale for $100 less a week later-still at that lower Black Friday price-and got the refund in about 30 seconds after calling.

Too many people focus on the narrow aspects of the job description and have no curiosity. I do stuff that is not really my job because it contributes to our mission. I also don't have to know everything - I just have to know who is a good resource for whatever problem I face.

Hate to hear that.

I bet Covid caused the decline!

Nope, they have generally provided awful customer service for at least 15 years in my experience.

Our Sheriff's Office had a Best Buy account for years. We pretty much bought all of our office stuff on line from them, and would make a trip to Little Rock once in a while for purchases. I won't bore all of you with the details of the issue that turned me off to Best Buy, but I tried to make a simple return of a printer cable. It was still in the package unopened and I had the receipt and the in store experience was painful. I was not the least bit rude or ill mannered and what I was requesting was not hard. The initial teenage clerk could not help me, his supervisor could not help me, the shift supervisor could not help me, and when I finally asked for the store manager he could not help me. I left in disgust.

When I got back to the office I sent a message to corporate via their service portal on line. Nope, they would not resolve the problem. I got on the phone and went through their phone tree and finally got to a regional manager. Nope, no go.

I wrote up a report and gave it to the sheriff requesting that we cancel account with Best Buy and never do business with them again. We did, and we've not made a purchase from them in at least 15 years. .

To this day I would not go to Best Buy if they were the only people on earth who had what I needed and they were giving them away. I've told my family that we don't shop at Best Buy. I tell my friends if you buy me a birthday or Christmas gift from Best Buy I won't accept it.

I saw that Best Buy closed 24 stores in 2024 and plans to close 10 to 15 more in 2025. They can't go out of business fast enough to suit me.

If I am looking to purchase an electronic device I will spend time doing in depth research. After I have refined my search and narrowed down my choices I then hand off my findings to my 17 year old tech wizard

He will sift through my findings and say "here's what you want".

I then tap on my magic portal and a truck brings it to my doorstep.

Signs and wonders!

Is Microcenter still in Sharonville? Nerd Mecca!

We don't have a Best Buy in driving distance. I wish we did. My son says good things about them and I shop there when I visit him.

Sorry for your bad experience. Don't let it ruin the 'whole barrel'. I think the service experience is systematic across the country.

I just went to Lowe's looking for a plumbing probe. Couldn't find it anywhere in plumbing. No one anywhere to ask. Finally asked a cabinet guy to look it up. "Aisle 29 Section 17" was the answer. Looked at section 17, 16, 15...no probe. I looked up and saw a box in the stock area that looked about the right size. The visible label didn't indicate what was inside. There happened to be an 'employees only' ladder near by so I climbed a little ways up it and brought the box down. Sure 'nough...48" plumbing probe. Five were wrapped up inside so I cut it open and took what I needed to checkout. Just another day at Lowes...

I've gone into my local Lowe's and asked for help and had the clerk walk with me all across the store find the item I need.

Great customer service!

Last Best Buy I visited was in Sparks, NV, about 10 years ago. I thought they had all closed. My experience with the staff was similar as others. They were ignorant and apathetic.

Best buy is a great place to by replacement cords for my cell phone.
. HA I needed a cord for something and they had what I needed for $19.95. Not knowing any better I bought it. Later I found the same cord ,brand and everything for $3.95.

My experiences with them has also been poor. I still visit them but rarely. The other big appliance stores and electronics stores are all gone and BB is all that's left. It really is rare to fine a clerk with a brain.

With the big box building supply stores your best bet to find brain matter is mornings on week days. That's when you're most likely to find the old guys retired from the building trades.
