How did I miss these little knives

Location
NE IL but I'm from Ohio
While I used to carry a fairly substantial pocket knife; as I got older I found myself gravitating toward small ones in the 2 3/4 to no mote than 3 1/2" range wit 3 to 3 1/4" the sweet spot. Mostly equal end penknives with a blade at each end; Thin and compact I never used a Congress pattern before as I no longer like a thick multiblade knife but I recently bought an older Boker (United Boker from about 1988 -1989) and wow, these are nice with a sheepfoot and a pen blade and a 3 1/4" closed length. Like potato chips though you can't stop at one. I currently have a nice dark green jigged bone one and a smooth blue bone one. In the United Boker days there was also a nice dark jigged red bone one I'll keep an eye out for as I only buy them if I find them at a bargain.

I used to carry neat little pocket knives but I no longer do so. I figured if I was going to carry a knife it might as well be one that is big enough to be used as a weapon if I ever needed to. The strong light weight polymer handled back lock knives made by Buck have changed the industry and are very attractively priced.

Over the years I have up and down, round and round with which knife to carry.
Lately been carrying small fixed blades.
Right this minute carrying the Bark River PSK on bottom.
Joker on top ready to go if I decide to upsize.

Up until 5 years ago when my Daughter's BF gifted me a Spyderco Delica K390 for Christmas, I always carried traditional folding pocket knives. The one I carried just prior to getting the Spyderco was an original Marbles Safety Axe folding large Stockman with 3 blades. It has genuine Sambar Stag scales and carbon steel blades that are razor sharp. I carried that one for 20 years.

Quite honestly, I still like the Marbles 3 blade knife much better but will admit that the Sypderco is a more convenient one handed operation, a lighter & more modern design with less of a concern about being lost because they are still being made. The original Marble's Safety Axe Co. went out of business about 15 years ago. They sold their name and now are just Chinese production knives at cheap prices. Not a terrible knife for the very low price they sell for, but not anywhere near the quality of the originals!

I always carry a pocket knife. I have a Kershaw that has an aluminum body and a nice 3" hollow ground blade. That has been a favorite for 35 years. Occasionally I carry a small Piranha auto.

The other knife I really like is the little USA made Schrade SP-2 lock back. I scour Ebay to find them. Got to be USA though. Not the Chinese stuff that is around today

Buck Stockman for me. Yes, it’s a bit heavy but can also service for defensive needs.

I have carried a pocket knife every day since I was about 7 years old (Born in 1956).
For years now I have carried two knives daily-a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian lockblade and a medium sized Swiss Army knife. Use one or both of them several times a day.
Would like to be able to carry a small fixed blade knife, but it’s too much trouble getting it back in the sheath most of the time, often requiring both hands.

For the last five or six years, my daily knives have been a Victorinox Alox Electrician and an Opinel, usually a No.6, but I might substitute an 8 or a 10 which have been modified for pocket carry.

I used to carry a third knife, because for a while I wanted always to have an Okapi Biltong, a cheap and snappy South African sheepsfoot. I am over that for the most part.

My problem with carrying small knives is that they tend to be heavy for their size and that eventually wear a hole in the thin fabric of jean's pockets. Sooner or later they slip down your leg unnoticed and then you have to get another knife and stitch up the pocket.

I've had hundreds of pocket knives and honestly have never need more than one blade. Multi blades just add thickness and weight IMO.
I have been carrying this Victorinox Sentinel for a couple years now and I think its about perfect. Super quality, cuts like crazy, big enough for most anything, so flat you forget it, not a sharp corner on it so no pocket wear. Its got a tweezer and toothpick too! The short lanyard lets me open and close it without getting my fingers near the blade, and I could open it with my teeth if need be.

I understand your thought but I respectfully disagree; A nice two blade with one at each end adds nothing to the thickness over a single blade knife and the weight difference fron the secondary blade is negligible.

Mine don't seem heavy. I carry mine in the watch pocket of my jeans. I have never wore a hole in one.

For a pocket knife I have a little lock blade NRA give away knife with a 2.5" blade that actually holds a good edge and is handy for cutting string, opening boxes, cleaning my finger nails, and such.
Next to my bed is a sheathed razor sharp WWII era K-Bar that I also take along when I travel.
I got the K-Bar off of Ebay. The handle was almost entirely rotted away so I got a replacement kit from K-Bar and had a local knife maker install and shape it using the original hardware and left the original patina on the blade.

I have too many knives to count, including Congress-type and other multi-blade knives. I'm almost never without a SAK. But those are tools. I carry them in my weak side pockets. On my strong side I carry weapons.

I have the same NRA knife and it's one of my favorites.

Yes, those are absolutely very nice. I had a case 62?? with a single back spring. Beautiful knife but biggest blade is still smaller than I like. Different strokes!
