Finally got one, a .455 Hand Ejector, 1st Model.
Shipped 21 Junuary 1915 to the British government via Remington Arm - Metallic Cartridge Co. NYC,NY agent.
Serial number 5200 of 5600 of 1st models.
This is in absolutely incredable condition for being 110 years old.
Holster wear only. Bore and cylinder are perfect. Amazing considering shooting the corrosive ammunition of the day.
The back strap is engraved J. FOWLER. Im assuming a staff officer as its a safe bet this revolver was never lugged around in a trench.

My grandfather was in WWI. Cleaning your revolver was a two or three day chore. First day after shooting clean ASAP. Second day run oily patches thru barrel and cylinder, and you may have debris sweating out of the metal. Third day run a patch thru and the patch should be clean.

Same thing with rifles. Grandpa had the cleanest firearms and today I guess we would say its OCD.

Great revolver and thank you for sharing.

Grand-dad would've made a good Marine, IMO. :D

Many shooters are aghast when I tell them I clean any of my guns after they've been shot, always. Some of the Glock bois claim they've never cleaned theirs after thousands of rds. I don't get that.

It looks like it has WWI period British Commercial Proofing. I have one within 20 of your serial that is the same way also shipped through Rem UMC. No name on it though. I wonder if this late group came in after they decided on the lugless Mk II and routed them through commercial channels for officer purchase?
