I tried just about every moss killer available from my local stores and had no luck. They will work eventually but it seems to take months before it starts to work. I talked to a local roofer and he recommended mixing equal parts vinegar, bleach, and water. I sprayed it on and three days later the moss just turned to dust as I swept it off. Seems to work really well and didn't discolor anything. I have a 10/12 pitch roof so climbing around up there isn't much fun. If I had left it alone it likely would have just washed away at the next rain anyway. I don't know if it would do your flower beds any good but if you're fighting with moss this seems to get the job done.

I’m guessing because bleach can react with other chemicals and release poisonous chlorine gas.
Years ago a friend’s wife decided to clean out the mostly empty bottles of cleaners under sink.
Dumped them down the drain, and a chemical reaction occurred.
She was overcome from the fumes released and nearly died.
The fumes removed the brass plating on some curtain fixtures too.

Copper Fungicide,, it is normally a garden product,
Works 100%

You can also add thin copper sheet in spots near the ridge,, no more moss.
( Glue it under the shingles, leave some copper exposed,,)

I use bleach and water to clean the vinyl siding on my house. Works quick and lasts a few months before the green crud comes back. My youngest son told me bleach damages the mildew/mold on the siding but doesn't "kill" it. He said a mix of vinegar and water will "kill the roots" and the green stuff will stay gone a lot longer. I have yet to try it on the siding but it seems to work on the deck.

As for shingles/roofing? I guy on the Ford Truck Forum says regular powdered or liquid detergent like you use in the washing machine will kill the mold/mildew on the roof. He says he pours it on there at the top on both sides and lets it sit. When it rain the rain dissolves it and washes it down the roof to the gutters an after that the green crud dies an is gone for awhile till it builds up again over a few years. I need to give it a try on my dog houses. One o of them is really bad on the west side of the roof (more shade on that side).

What kind of roofing do you have??

I know about the hazards of mixing bleach with certain other chemicals, but mixing a very little bleach with water produces no gas and is eminently useful for cleaning and disinfecting. Is even recommended as a water purifier by adding a few drops per gallon of water ro rid it of microbial organisms prior to drinking. Has no effect on particulate contamination.
I think it is the combination of bleach and vinegar that creates a weapons-grade lethal gas (Chlorine) used in WW I.

There is a product out there sold at Lowe's called Wet & Forget that is supposed to work really well. Just spray it on and let it work. Has anyone tried it?
I have used it,, you get the same results as using copper fungicide,,
it is basically the same thing,,

Wet and Forget is much easier to mix,, ( 6 to 1 with water )
I even treated a parked truck,, killed the mold perfectly.

I just always have copper fungicide because I use it in the yard and garden.

I use a 50/50 mix of bleach and water to clean a lot of stuff. It works great cleaning a old wood privacy fence. I also spray my driveway and sidewalk down with it once a year, I don't rinse it off. Since doing this I haven't had to get my pressure washer out in 4 years.

I took this picture after cleaning my side of my neighbors fence. All I did was spray the bleach and water on, then rinsed it off after a little while. You can see the front section I didn't do that's next to their house.
