Was listening to Marty Robins song today called Mr, Shorty. He sings about a Short Barreled Batt 44. I think I found it, or could have been it.

Mine is a 4.25" barreled 2nd model American. The chamber has been reamed to accept a short 44-40. The action works, if you cock it slowly so the cylinder stop catches. The spring for the barrel latch is gone too.

Guess I need to load some shells for it to see if it spouts 17" of flame like Mr Shorty's.

Does anyone else think they have Mr Shorty's gun?

waelkhntr, you are right. When listening to the song I always thought he said batt.

You are booth wrong! The correct word in the song "Mr. Shorty is not batt or bass, The line is simply "Short barrelled BAD .44! Simply a generic short barrelled revolver. It could be whatever you want to visualize it as.

Anyone ever shoot or carry their Smith 44 revolvers? 'antique ones'

So Alk8944, what makes your link any more authoritative than the one I posted? I have read many "lyric sites" and there seems to be a consistent inconstancy in the interpretation of the word being "bad" or "bass". With this in mind I don't think "this should settle the matter" is accurate.
I lose no sleep either way. I still enjoy the song and the artist
