But there was this one time (Miami, under an overpass) I had been playing phone tag all day with someone I needed to drop a check off to that also had a box of parts I needed to pick up.
Both of us racing around different cities doing our thing. I said screw it. I’ll head to Miami. You call me when you get done and we will meet for a few minutes..ends up being under an I95 overpass.
As usual..we get sidetracked talking about the project.
A street urchin advanced toward us in a questionable manner..after eyeballing us from some distance. One of those be bopping, jerking, hey its cool, street dwellers. Passed us twice from afar & then made a beeline right toward us.
I faced him when he got about 50’ away and placed my hand on my holstered pistol and shook my head from side to side as if to say "not today".
He stopped dead in his tracks. Smiled and gave me a nod & salute as if to say "thank you for stopping me from doing something stupid today". Turned around and waved over his head as he shuffled back from where he came from.
