10mm PC M2.0 Holsters and Any Other Questions I Can Think Of

Just took my 10mm PC to the range today for the first time ever shooting 10mm and had some questions. First what is a good OWB holster that has can handle an optic? I don't think I will add a flashlight at this point, it makes compatibility that much harder. Other is the grip texturing is a little strong, any options other than gloves? I have some Mechanix gloves I use for cold weather shooting that are pretty thin, that would work, but I would rather not. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and gloves make me that much more clumsy as it is. Oh and the obligatory range pics, each are one mag at 7 yards, with me never having fired a 10mm before. I did have a couple of practice mags before taking the pictures, to get a feel for the gun and zero the sight.

Oh and since everyone always asks where to get the anatomical targets, Amazon is your friend. :)

Picked up an M&P in 10MM and started looking for a holster. Craft Holsters had what I wanted. Only down side is it takes about a month to get since they are made in Slovakia. I'm still waiting for my free optic from S&W.

Does that holster have an open bottom? The 5.6" barrel on the PC version, will need to stick out.

Edit: Nevermind, they have a version for the 5.6" and even had it in stock in black. It will be here next week instead of next month. They also have a 25% off sale for memorial day going on.

Here is the holster company's leather holster I just received. Appears well made, but is awfully tight. It will probably loosen up over time, but I have no experience with leather. All my other holsters are Kydex.

To take some of the cheese grater effect from the grips use a socket or rounded screwdriver shaft rubbed across the nubs to lessen the bite. Start slowly until you get the feel for it.

I followed the instructions that came with the holster on braking in using the denatured alcohol and plastic bag. Found that it works. Gun slides in and out with any problems the next day.

I had the same trouble with finding a holster for my original stainless M&P .45 with a weapon light. I ended up buying a Blackhawk Omnivore Multifit holster, and it's been great. Although I prefer a leather holster, the Omnivore ain't pretty but it's practical. A couple of years ago I traded that .45 for an M&P 10mm 2.0, using the same weapon light (Nightstick) and a Holosun 507C optic. The Omnivore fit like a glove. I use it with the paddle and it makes for an easy on/easy off yet secure carry package. If you don't mind Level 2 retention and kydex, it's an outstanding holster.

Tried some AAC hollow points today with one failure to feed after about the third round. All other rounds were good and no malfunctions on the PPU flat nose I shot. I have both AAC and Freedom Munitions flat nose on the way to try out. First pic is the PPU with a new Holosun 507 I had to get to fit the holster and second was the AAC hollow points (the anatomy target). Both were at 7 yards, which is where I usually practice. I'm sure others can group better, but with my arthritis this was a good day.

Edit: Oh I also invested in some shooting gloves which were used with both targets. They help as the stippling on the 10mm is pretty rough.

The grip checkering felt sharp at first, but I got used to it and so did my wife. I think it actually helps to hang on to the pistol and really like it now.

The new grip was too rough on my hand. I used a wet drywall sanding block to lightly knock down the removable palm piece.
