Picked up a 1066 this afternoon

I looked it up in SCSW and for product code 108270, it states: “108270 4-1/4" S FS TDA AM SB 9SH w/FNS, 3rd Trigger guard, Special 1,000 manufactured in 1990.”

Does that mean that only 1000 of the 5067 produced were the 108270, or that there was a special run of 1000 within the 108270 product code?

Also, I think the night sights are Trijicon, but the logo is pretty worn. I want to get them relamped and I’ve seen posts where other members have had that done. I just wanted to confirm S&W used Trijicon, and can I send them the slide, or do I need to push the sights off to send them in?IMG_7510.jpeg

I don’t normally shoot factory ammo, but the gentleman I purchased the 1066 from gave me a bunch of 180 grain target fodder. I loaded up a few mags and I’m taking my 1006, the 1066, and my two 1076’s for a range trip sometime this weekend. Plus, I need the brass and it wouldn’t make sense to pull them all down 😉IMG_7521.jpeg

Congrats on your find! :)

They are Trijicon sights & you can get them re-lamped from them. Most people just send in the slide but you can ask them when you work with them on the RMA#.

I have the actual paper New Product Introduction flyer for the 1066-NS (below) & it states there that only 1000 would be produced.

Roy Jinks published 5,067 units for the 1066 in a factory letter dated October 21, 2010.

I have long had this working theory that the image of this letter on the internet is what set the Model 1046 market absolutely on fire.

Congratulations, very nice grab with all those mags!
No kidding!

10XXX-series mags in good-to-exc condition are at - or north of - $100.00 when you can find them. 45XX-series are getting up there too. …. Very nice snag OP!

I have two 1066s and both are great shooters. One I carry, the other triples as my practice gun and range ‘beater’ and handload tester. Both run the Trijicons.

I have triji's on one of my pistols and ameriglow on the other. If I recall correctly, I sent them both in (just the sights). Triji re-lamped them and the ameriglows, they just sent brand new. I think Triji charged $40 to re-lamp and ameriglow said "no charge". So both will work with you, at least 9 yrs ago they did.
