My gun acquisition has slowed considerably. I've collected most of the guns I want (and/or am willing to pay for).

I have about 30 guns consisting of a few rifles, one shotgun, and a bunch of handguns. These are mostly prelock S&W revolvers representing a wide range of frame sizes, barrel lengths, and finishes. There's a handful of steel and polymers pistols. I've stayed conservative on calibers, owning only things in common calibers such as 38, 357, 9mm, 45ACP, 556, 22LR.

So here I am with this decent collection. Whenever I go to the LGS and see an interesting gun, I usually pass on the grounds that I have that base covered. Another limiting factor is that I'm something of a cheapskate with guns. That is to say, I'm not interested in owning expensive, collector grade guns. I get joy out of shooting my pieces At the range or outdoors. I'm not a hunter or into tactical cosplay.

It's a good place to be. Although I've been missing the fun of new acquisitions. Of course there is some suspense waiting for a wishlist item to appear for a decent price (a snub-nosed 29, 27).

Where are you in your gun collecting?

Been about a year since I bought anything new. Also been thinking of paring down the accumulation a bunch and using those funds on my newest hobby, restoring/resto-modding older electric guitars. I am still looking out for examples of my collecting niche, which is Model 19-2's in all finishes and barrel lengths. Not much else has appealed to me lately.

Seems to be 28’s for me as far as chasing one certain model. I’ve recently picked up a 65-3and a 15-1. Why? I don’t have that answer. Maybe because one had diamond magnas and the other a 3” heavy barrel. Yes, I’m ready to cool it down a bit on purchases. Then in walks through the door…

Nice to be thinking of another project such as vintage electric guitars- good luck!

I took a long break from collecting S&Ws. About 11 years. My son convinced me that buying the right guitars was a good investment. So, I did that. Now I have a crapload of guitars.

I've switched back to S&W collecting.

I'm trying to go the other way. I have sold 5 S&W revolvers in the last 9 months, more to go. A couple weeks back "GrabaGun" had Sig 226 "40th anniversary" retro (no rail or optic cut) for $699. I've shot it twice, almost 300 rds; don't know I have handled anything better. Helps that I rooted around my mag dump and found 5 factory and 4 MecGar mags for it so after I get the 2 mag "rebate" I'll have a total of 13. I didn't have a plan but it came together anyways. Joe

I'm done. In my early 70's now and wondering how I will deal with disposition of what I have. I have two daughters but don't want to burden them with all these old military relics and bolt rifles. I will request that they split my small collection of S&W revolvers as well as a couple of Glocks and two Walthers. The Cold War pistols like the Makarovs and Tokarevs, they don't have the least bit of interest in owning.

I quit buying firearms when I retired. We recently became debt-free and that didn’t happen without a lot of sacrifice. Now I’m conditioned to not buying stuff I don’t really need but the peace-of-mind that comes with being debt-free feels so good. More for you collectors and I’m happy for that.

There is nothing else I really want but when a good deal comes by I'll get it, even if I already have several of them. I figure it's money in the bank. I've told myself I don't need any more guns but for the last year I've averaged a new purchase of one a month. In the last three months I've bought two 1911 A1's (CMP) and a 4 screw pre 10 4" ($180.00) that was too cheap to pass. At 77 I don't have to worry about what is going to happen to them as Jr's interest is the same as mine.

I have a C&R license. Saying a C&R license is cheap is kind of like saying reloading is a good way to save money on ammo.

It has been a very long time since I have bought a new gun. I buy a few used guns every year. There is a short list of items. I keep an eye out for my main one would be a browning single shot rifle in 454 on the handgun side I am looking for a mountain gun in 45 colt

I am a slow learner. I tend to get attracted to something after it is no longer being made.

I have all the revolvers I want at the moment, and several will go up for sale in the coming months when I return to Savannah. The new passion for me seems to be semi autos, with a lean towards 22's having recently picked a 70's M41, and a Ruger MK4 that has been Volquartson modified to shoot targets with the best of them. I actually bought a CZ457 varmint recently. The first rifle in over 40 years. I did shotguns years ago. That is a real sickness

I have slowed down my purchases. I have a decent, (in my mind) eclectic collection. I will still pick up a piece here and there, but I am being way more selective and a bit more frugal (except for the nickel 1911 I recently paid way too much for).

I am selling off few things to fund others, but that is a slow process too. My son says he would keep all I leave him, but who knows how he'd feel about that in 15 or so years.

I still look all the time, but I am not normally impulsive any more.
