Forced Reset Triggers

I don't even own an M1 carbine nor a Mini 14, so it doesn't matter to me specifically in any way. I just remember seeing all manner of youTube videos a few years ago with posters showing a shoestring tied to their belt loop and an AK or AR styled rifle firing from the hip continuously using this string.

That sounds like a variation on bump firing the rifle, using a string rather than finger pressure to pull the trigger.

It's not a direct parallel to the prior examples discussed as it is not fully attached to the firearm, but rather one end is attached to the shooter. But I suspect the ATF regards it as still being attached to the rifle.

The bump fire ban was over turned on the grounds that despite the bump stock providing the reciprocating movement, each round was still fired due to a single operation of the trigger due to a finger on the trigger.

However, that "finger on the trigger" distinction was not the case with the string through the oiler cut in the stock, or string wrapped around the trigger examples previously discussed. And it would not be the case with a string attached from belt loop to trigger.
