Unkempt Beards on young guys….(usually a fatty or a milque-toast)
Talking about one’s gadgets for black guns…
Young guys with unkempt beards working in gun stores talking about gadgets on black guns…
You reminded me about the long beard fad ( I always wonder whats living in them) even worse - are totally bald guys with big beards & sideburns - like bridges to nowhere - stopping at top of ears.
I wear a trimmed short beard, & still have some top hair - both grey white.
* Any resembled to any revered members HERE - is strictly a coincidence & NOT deliberate. C .

My favorite is the guy who INSISTED that the grains mentioned on the side of the ammo box was for how many grains of powder was inside the casing.

After explaining to him it was a measurement of the weight of the bullet, not powder charge, he just wouldn’t listen and more or less called me a fool in a very smug manner.

He was absolutely certain the 180 grain box of .30-06 would be much higher velocity than the 150 grain box right next to.

Those guy's in the Red Shirts. I agreed to go with my former LEO Partner to instruct his Daughter in shooting a pistol as She was looking into Law Enforcement as a career. Now I was a Federal Firearms Instructor for 18 years. Pistol, Shotgun, M-1 Carbine, M-14, and M4. I don't instruct anymore nor do I give out unwanted advice. Anyway, we went to a local range as it was too cold to shoot outdoors. My Friend paid the fees, bought their target's and bought their ammunition. 9 MM CZ 75b and S&W M&P .22 Compact. Almost immediately this "Expert" in a Red Shirt comes over and starts giving advice on loading the guns and kind of elbows my Friend out of the way. He leaves and then comes back while I'm teaching the Daughter trigger control and grip. Right away starts in again about "You need to hold it this way, your holding it wrong." Perfect two handed grip and she was punching good holes center mass at 15 yards. The "Expert" left and as we were switching to the thing to the CZ he comes back and starts to take the gun out if her hand. My Friend blew up. He said what out backgrounds were and that I was a "professional" not a part time employee and didn't want his advice. Red Shirt stormed off and here comes the top "Red Shirt". The guy was calm and I explained why we were there in the first place. My Friend put in that the other red shirt had used up most of our rental time and it could be extended or we could want our money back. We stayed and shot with no further interference. I have my own outdoor range and the State has Free outdoor ranges also. Mr. Red Shirt is why I never go any other ranges like the one described.

Pistols that look like someone took a possibly decent frame and added every possible “enhancement” until it looks like a freak show. The judicious application of enhancements can result in a refined firearm.

FWIW its easy to see who was never in the military in the 70s or on any type of military shooting team. Also never been involved in operating an indoor shooting range. Certain weapons terms are just what they are. BTW weapon is the term the military uses for such and IMHO used by those that have been there and done it. Also easy to see who has never been in a combat situation. These are my comments on this thread.

Folks that say my pistol “ runs”. Have never seen any weapon with legs. Lack of ability with the English language for using Functions, operates and other better words.
Young guys at the range shooting ARs and other plastic guns at 7 yards with shotgun size groups????
Guys at shows that ask 100 questions about ammo that has information On The Box of ammo. Happened at Raleigh show when helping best friend, give me a break…..
TRUE...........And I HATE "it followed me home"..........Again..........No legs.......No brain or wheels............So. How did it follow you home?

It took me forever to stop referring to guns as "weapons" when I was instructor for our local 4H shooting club. 4H doesn't want you to refer to them as weapons, but "firearms" or "rifles" instead. That actually makes sense to me, as we were teaching kids to target shoot, not prepare them for combat.

Groo here
This #$^%&* thumbs high hold on a gun not designed for it....
So many say the gun is bad when they ride the slide with high thumbs, and drop the mag by hitting the button with the base of the thumb,
or slide locks or not locks because the thumb is high .
My EAA Gold Team is set up for this hold from the factory thumb shield on the safety and on the "Gass Pedel"

I have an uncle that I shoot with now and then. He volunteered for the Marines in 1967, fought in Vietnam, stayed in and retired after 20 years. Sometimes he calls it a "weapon," sometimes he calls it a "firearm," sometimes he calls it a "gun."

By the way, I suggest you not try to tell him to his face that he hasn't "been there and done it."

<snip>

" Why don't you shoot a woman's gun." my comment, "All guns are women's guns."

6. When shooting my Gold Cup and having someone coming up to me and say, "That is way too big a handgun for someone your size, or even worse, to big for a woman.

A story for Tabby:

A few years ago, my daughter (former Navy sonar tech) and her boyfriend went with me to shoot a bowling pin match. When it was time to get the guns out, I put a 1911 .45 on the table, my daughter put a 1911 .45 on the table, and the boyfriend put a Glock 19 9mm on the table. My daughter took a long look at the Glock then turned to the boyfriend and said….

“I think we should both date other men.”

Where to begin, being late as usual:
Lever guns that look like something out of a "steampunk" video.
$4,000+ 1911's.
.30 "Supercarry."
.50 BMG pistols.
Winchester Super Short Magnums.
"Back in the Day," Blah Blah Blah. Joe
