A trend I can't relate to is putting a great big, over powered scope, with turrets made to be dialed up/dpwn/sideways, with a reticle with more lines and dots inside it on a hunting rifle. Even out here in the big Wild West a long shot at an elk is likely less than 300 yards. You don't have time to be fiddling with your ballistic calculator, wind gauge and fiddling with your scope. SHOOT.
I don't no about anyone else, but I don't want to lug an extra ounce around in the mountains, let alone an extra pound. I'm a KISS (keep it stupid simple) guy. Most of these wanna be snipers would do much better with a 2-7x or 3-9x with simple duplex cross hair scope on their rifle sighted out to point black range and learning to shoot quick without overthinking the shot.
Next thing that bugs me is letting anti-gunners control our firearms terminology, such as "high capacity magazine" and "assault rifle". My old Browning Hi-Power's standard capacity is 13 rounds. My semi-auto rifle came with a 30 round standard capacity magazine. Worse, I see manufacturers that call their magazines high capacity....STOP IT! The capacity isn't high or low, the capacity it has is what it was designed to be. They are semi-automatic rifles, not the stupid sounding "modern sporting rifle".
Okay, there I got that off my chest. Now don't get me started on chassis rifles or double stacked 1911/2011 pistols.
