I started shooting action shoots with a 1.0 and debating on “upgrading” to a 2.0. Here are some things i have been debating.

Used 1.0 for $225 and put an Apex trigger in it and have milled for a red dot.

No red dot needed and use what i already have. (It’s sentimental and afraid of wearing it out.

2.0 4.5” barrel already milled for a dot. New flat trigger style.

2.0 FDE 5” milled and flat trigger $499

Find a 1.0 CORE but have read the trigger is terrible.

It's not hard to put the internals from a 2.0 into a 1.0 frame. Improves the 1.0 trigger to the newer parts and feel of the 2.0 models.

The internals of the 1.0 pistols can be polished to improve the trigger pull feel and pull weight. I just went through a Shield Plus frame/parts a week or so back and dropped the trigger pull weight down from 6.5 lbs. to 4&1/4 lbs. I also removed the striker block and polished it and the hole it sits/moves in. The spot where the sear contacts the striker was also polished. Combination of 1000 grit sandpaper and a dremel with polishing compound will put a mirror finish on those parts.

I like a dot optic on my pistols. I can't see the front sight unless I have my glasses on my face and a fight might be a tough thing to get through while keeping a pair of glasses on my face.

Even if you shoot your 1.0 enough to "wear it out" it's easy to find/buy/install replacement parts. The internal parts, not so much the frame. Lots of slides/internal parts available on ebay. I've bought/used Shield slides/barrels and 2.0 slides/barrels.

I've put Apex Tactical trigger kits in several full sized M&P pistols. For me a better/bigger improvement in accuracy required an aftermarket barrel. Apex Tactical or KKM Precision both make barrels for the M&P pistols that improved my groups. The Apex Tactical triggers are pretty awesome, the not so awesome trigger pull of the factory guns just wasn't what kept me from shooting better groups with the full sized 9MM and .40 S&W pistols.

Good luck with your journey.
