The phrase "situational awareness" comes to mind. How on earth could these guys be missed? 300 miles??? Something like 5 hours on the freeway and the crooks avoided detection by the Brinks drivers? Comments on their training and skills notwithstanding, they must have been on mental autopilot.

"A copy of the indictment says the defendants watched as a Brinks truck was loaded with jewels and then followed the truck for approximately 300 miles (485 km) from San Mateo to Lebec, California."

The heist has been a mystery in California for nearly three years after a Brinks company truck transporting the jewellery was robbed at a remote stop as one driver slept inside, and another was having a meal.

Why two Guards and not three or four?

Brinks does Brinks but I worked for Security Companies that would have done it differently but then we would Bill at a much higher rate.

That reminds me of a similar Case I worked years ago. One Armed Guard weighed 300+ pounds and the other weighed 350. Having two minimum wage Armed Guards is not really a Safeguard, no pun intended.
