Webb,

Nice Piece...Not often found with little to no Black Powder erosion noticeable anywhere I could find!! Kind of gives you the impression someone might have misplaced where they stashed it nearly 150 yrs. ago & forgot to shoot it...Ha!!-Ha!!

I wonder why such a nice condition revolver needed to have the stocks replaced?? Original stocks would have had black hard rubber stocks according to Roy's book. The pre-intertwined S&W logo stocks are tough to find. That revolver also had a lanyard ring as it left the factory. Would have been the early round ring that carried forward to around 1900 on top-breaks and solid frame revolvers.

Gary,

Pardoning me for asking, but referring to what you posted above...Am I missing something?? Reason I ask...Unless there's something I'm not seeing...Webb's Revolver surely looks to have the Correct Stocks as best as I can see!!

I realize I've been in this game for a Long, Long Time & "Sometimes" I do miss things on occasion so if you're seeing something I'm not...Please clue me in!!

I don't understand either. This Baby Russian has the correct grips, and I have never seen one with a lanyard ring.

NICE gun!

I agree- the grips are almost certainly the originals, and fit perfectly. I see no evidence of a loop.

Lee,

Given all that's been noted about Webb's Revolver being correct as it stands...I believe Gary's having an "Old Guy" Moment as I've been known to have from time to time!!

Hopefully he'll be back with an explanation as to what Revolver he was referring to...Ha!!-Ha!!

Never mind  - looking at photo 27, it looks like brown wood, but I missed the corner of the stocks in picture 24. Those are really browned out. The lanyard hole comment is found on the New Model 3 DA thread just below yours, it was meant for the other thread.
