I'm hankering for a Mountain Gun.. but a vintage one not the new stuff...

All my googling and all I get are 629-6 or the new 'Lipsy' guns..

Any idea where and what price range are they?

Thanks!

Keep and open mind, I have a 629-4 with a thin barrel, non-fluted cylinder and a factory ported barrel. I love the way it handles and shoots. Keep shopping and you will find something that fits your requirements. Stay with the older stuff, pre lock.

Well I do have a N frame 624 4" .44 Special.. but I would never try to 'magnumize' it!!!

I ran across a 629-2 Pre-MG "Mountain Revolver" a couple months ago. As you may know, they don't have the engraving/etching the "Mountain Gun" does. I absolutely love it. It took me about a year to find it.

Hi. I know where this one is for $1075.

UPDATE: I traded a Sig 1911 for this particular firearm. The previous owner told me it is a Lew Horton pistol. I don't know about that, but I can tell it's been worked on; the trigger and hammer have both been polished and the action is smoother than any other S&W wheel gun I've ever had.

I got mine 5 years ago, a -2 Mountain Revolver. They are out there. .44 Magnum is by far the most common among the pre-IL guns (probably the IL ones too). GB and the other gun auction sites will get you guns to buy pretty quickly, but if you are patient for a deal you may want to search the auction house aggregator sites like Hibid.com.

I got my 629-4 prelock somewhere between 1993 and 1997. Saw it in an add, at my friends gun shop, liked it, ordered it. It has been a constant hunting companion, when bow hunting, since then. Good luck on your search, you will love it when you get one.
