That's a K-38 Masterpiece and a really good looking one. Some would call it the "pre Model 14." Looks to be from the 1953-1954 timeframe. Great looking target gun. I am envious.

Tjm, thank you for the clarification. I thought it was a Military & Police or an Outdoorsman, due to the adjustable rear sight. Definitely a keeper.

No, not a Model 23. The .38/44 Outdoorsman Model of 1950 would not become a model numbered gun until 1958. This one likely shipped in 1954.

In my humble opinion, the .38/44 Outdoorsman Model 1950 and the .45 Model 1950 Target are two of the finest revolvers S&W put out.
